RIP
"Sundown and The Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald were my two favorites by him.
The Edmond Fitzgerald song has to be one of greatest storytelling events ever known. I would call it many things, mesmerizing, unforgettable and a masterpiece.
Lightfoot did both the writing and singing and the performance was incredible on both accounts.
All of I know about the actual event or wreck is courtesy of the his song and from a one hour documentary that the song made me want you to watch years ago. I think his work honoured the crew memory and cherished them and the families that survived them.
RIP and thanks for the lasting memories
The 1975 maritime disaster inspired one of Lightfoot's biggest hits in his 50-year recording career.
