Halftime?

When are people gonna realize Nascar isn't the NFL?

When they gonna realize if they don't like the product then don't watch? More cautions, halftime, more wrecked cars, more risk, shorter races on and on and on. The over built some racetracks and the economy took a s••t. Every sport has been affected by the same thing. Unlike every sport though Nascar hit its peak not that long ago and now it's evening out.

Every sport has not been affected by the same thing. Every other professional sport is getting higher attendance, higher television ratings and is, overall, doing better than ever. Like I said, while NASCAR's ratings are plummeting (supposedly because of the recession:rolleyes:), people are spending $40 to watch UFC on PPV.

They used to do halftime at the Truck Series races. The halftime stuff belongs at local short tracks and in football.

Who the he!! is Nick Margiesass, never heard of the jerk. Sheesh what a load.

Quite possibly the stupidest idea ever!

Hopefully anyone stupid enough to consider a NASCAR halftime show looks at the poll on the right showing what the fans have to say. 95% say no and only 5% say yes to this crazy idea.

If Nascar has a half time show they gotta get the Black Eyed Peas to perform every week. See I can say stupid crap as well, where is my article on Nascar.com?

Attendance at NFL games have gone down every year since 2007. 2011 was the worst attendance since the NFL expanded to 30 teams. TV ratings are up though but I don't factor in TV ratings as attendance.

NFL TV ratings have skyrocketed and my team, the Jacksonville Jaguars, saw a 27% increase in fan attendance.

Halftime!!??! What a joke! As many of you said, NASCAR is not a "ball" sport. We don't need halftime we need to get back to our roots and quit making changes that just makes things worse!

Halftime? Wow, what a great idea! Since these races attract Super Bowl type crowds, we need a Super Bowl type halftime show. Big acts each week. Why stop there. I want cheerleaders too. Not just NASCAR cheerleaders. I want a team of cheerleaders for all 43 teams. A minimum of five per team.

I really hope that when NASCAR takes over their namesake web site in January 2013 that they hire some actual writers. Turner has screwed the pooch throughout their tenure and this is just another in a long line of examples.

The same Jacksonville Jaguars that use tarps to mask the empty seats from showing on television? Oh yeah again, nobody talking TV ratings here.

Still pretty hard to get a ticket to a Steeler game.
Thank you Capt. Obvious :Dfor the info.

NFL LIVE on ESPN just had a story about the declining attendance AT the games yesterday. Lowest attendance since 30 team expansion. Some teams may have seen an increase but as a whole it is down, just like NASCAR and other major sports.

I think I like your cheerleader idea, but only if their female. LOL

I like the cheerleader idea! But NASCAR would make them wear firesuits. :(

Wow!Re-Reading that it sounds like I came off like a d••k which wasn't my intention. I apoligize for that and will not post until finished with coffee again:(

I can't believe we are actually talking about this. It's not gonna happen. It will never happen.

Mike Helton said so.

They were 25th in the league last year for attendance. Which is much better than my Dolphins who were 28th. I guess we're off topic but man I'm ready for some damn football already.

I don't know where you read that. EverBank Field, at 90% capacity (which they have to exceed) seats more than Detroit, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Cincinatti, Chicago and Oakland, among others.

I'd like to see where you got that from, because I'm betting the numbers are fuzzy math. If they were 25th in the league, that means they weren't selling enough tickets to avoid a blackout. And exactly zero Jacksonville Jaguars games were blacked out.

Sorry to sound like a dick but I'm calling bull****.

I'm going to guess that he got his numbers here. I looked them up as well.

No apologies needed....this is what this is about, a good spirited debate:)

I'm still calling bull.

http://www.businessinsider.com/nfl-tv-blackout-rule-2012-7

So, if the Jags, on average, only sold 92% of their tickets (and, on their best days, only sold 96%), every single game last year would have been blacked out. Except, none of them were. Zero blackouts in Jacksonville. Furthermore, this also contradicts other reports that claim only 51,000 fans attend Jaguars games.

Again, I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm just saying that I don't trust ESPN. I've sat right here on my couch and watched ESPN Monday Night Football say things about the attendance being poor at a game that was visibly and statistically sold out.

On a related note, I'm glad to see the Dallas Cowboys can sell more tickets and seat more people at their games than they actually have. What are they doing, charging people to watch the games on TV at a bar nearby and counting it towards their attendance figures? :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

Somehow I'm not surprised that you would shoot down the official numbers. ;)

Standing Room Only would be my guess. I can only speak for the Pittsburgh market but they have a huge amount of SRO tickets that they sell for the Steelers, Pirates, & Penguins. That's why our figures here in Pittsburgh are greater that the seating capacity. Perhaps Dallas does the same?

ESPN is biased against the Jaguars. Watch a Jaguars game on ESPN and log on to Twitter at the same time... each time ESPN presents a "fact" about Jaguars attendance or their fanbase, it's quickly refuted by Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union.

ESPN could be looking down at a sold out stadium in Jacksonville and they'd tell you either half those people in seats are figments of your imagination or that they're all Patriots fans.

Gotcha. So the other numbers are accurate, it's just ESPN's bias towards the Jaguars that they under reported. I knew there was something fishy going on. :D
