Hall of Fame class of 2014

Lot of good memories. Ingram was a short track hero of mine.
I loved the Ashville track, during the times I went there they would invert or at least have Robert the back.
30 cars on quarter mile track, it was a great.
Robert and Bob would mix it up too, I thought they were going to fight each other after one race.

I remember Jack had a shop there near by. when the cars started out to the track the fans would go nuts when the back gate opened and the number 11 olds of Jack rolled thru the gate and onto the track. If my memory serves me correct it was Gold and had Buck Stove as a sponsor. As for pressley your right they really went after each other as did the fans. you were either a fan of Ingram or Pressley, not both. Good Times for sure and short track at its best.

Tim Flock, Jack Ingram, Dale Jarrett, Maurice Petty, Fireball Roberts

If you still unconvinced consider the Ann Francis nomination, does anubody really believe she belongs in the company of Petty, Pearson or Allison? I would hate to think anyone could be so foolish, it purely a result of peer pressure to kiss France butt. A corporate vehicle because real people know better.

The fact that Jack Ingram got in and Ann France did not , tells me the France family has nothing to do with who gets in.

I should have said Benny Parsons instead of Tim Flock since he got in this time.

Wonder if Jarrett's kids will be playing in some basketball tournament when he'd inducted? :XXROFL:

I don't get it , this has nothing to do with what ' Nascar Wants ' , this is voted on by a panel of members from every facet of the sport . Voting is tough from a list of 25 possibles and voting gets split , like in any other election .That's why it's so easy for Danica to win the fan vote . You guys won't all vote for one male driver. As for Nascar finding some way to fix the election , that's the usual 'total crap '.

It speaks volumes to what NASCAR, the media and the sport in general thinks of its roots. People see "Late Model" champion and that's it. The dude won FIVE NWAAS National Championships. That's a big deal. But, like I said, I'm not surprised. I'm glad Jack Ingram made it in though.

We will just have to agree to disagree.
Two questions
1. Were you able to see Jack Ingram race in 70s and 80s?
2. Would any other bookeeper that wasnt from the France hierarchy ever get nominated.

Open your eyes The idiocy is already in place, she should never been considered. It was purely to indulge the France family.
Almost any driver that ever suited up has more credibility. The Ingram / Anne France analogy only demonstrates the foolish of her nomination. It is a night and day comparison, she simply doesn't belong in a nascar conversation that equates her contributions to Ingram. A good woman no doubt, but the miscasting is a disservice to her legacy. The whole idea is amazinging Jack Ingram was a great driver, he thrilled many, it is a laughable consideration between him and Anne France.

Some things are self evident, if that earns me black helicopter snark, or tin foil then bring it on, but her BS nomination is still a farce.

I normaly like reading Hinton, but I hope he was sitting on a throne when he wrote that crap. That kind of butt kissing would probably embarrass Micheal Waltrip. and we already have mothers day, Brian just needs to love granny like the rest of the world.

The Nascar HoF should have just enshrined every France that ever lived, and will ever lived. It would have been great for the cult, and a one shot butt kissing event, rather than the continual crap.

Whats next the France family dog. If they could market turds from the blessed outhouse of Bill and Anne, we would probably have to deal with that too.

I am not much for conspiracies but Nascar is a business first, and there is pressure from the top.

I can see how you could mix them up . . .

Flock, Fireball, and Petty were all people I hoped to make it in, so I'm quite happy. Ingram, I was thinking in a year or two, but he does deserve to go in, so props to him. However as for Jarrett, he really isnt worthy quite yet. Wait 5-10 years.

It absolutely amazes me how disrespected Dale Jarrett has been through his entire career. Here is my recap. He went the first 9 years of his career earning 4 wins and 1 pole . Not a bad record for any driver , but Fans laid the same crap on him that we give to Menard , Kyle Petty and the other sons . Called him the usual derogatory names . Then when Ernie Irvan got hurt , Yates gave him the fill in ride . There were even more disrespect and boos. In the next 9 years DJ won 27 races and 14 poles and a Cup championship. He still got no respect . Now he has been recognized by his peers and put into the Hall of Fame as a first ballot winner . Same thing , ..disrespect . To heck with them DJ ,youdeserve it man . Here's to ya:cheers:

Jarrett was only the third best driver that drove for Yates.
Davey was faster and more dominating.
DJ was a let down in 95 and the Yates numbers declined, while Labonte won 3 races replacing Dale at JGR in 95.

DJ did win a title and he is worthy of entering the HoF, but Yates was building rockets at the time, Davey or Ernie would have won a title if they had lived or stayed healthy.
Yates has said that the team would have remained sucessful had Davey lived, I am thinking he believd Davey was better.

DJ is polished and well spoken. More pointedly he is the kind of vanilla nascar has always loved. That helped as much as anything, purely on driving his record doesnt compare to Weatherly, or Roberts.
