... the Sprint Cup Series season has been great so far with Gen-6. Best Cup season in a long time.

I can't wait until the series resumes at Indianapolis in July. ;)

Not even Sonoma lights your fire ?

go figure . . .

He is going on a vacation with D.W. and Mikey..have fun.:) No complaints about the season, one of the best so far. The car is an improvement. Still need more safer barriers, it will help to prolong the careers of our favorite drivers.

I love Sonoma but "NASCAR on TNT" is just awful. What's the point of watching the race if you won't see the race because of their excess commercials, horrendous camera angles, craptastic audio and awful commentary.

Exactly. If one knows that they're not going to enjoy something, why on earth subject oneself to the torture?

And fox was any better? Listening to that a hole DW with his stupid BS all race? I am so glad that we are away from fox. It just to bad that they cannot put the races on pay per view or a special channel so that we could just watch the race. And get rid of DW. He is the one that ruins the broadcast.

I deal with it by watching the live leader board, and if anything happens big during the commercials, they will have at least one camera and the in car to show what was missed. I find the camera coverage much the same for all of them. I think D.W. does the best job of all the announcers...(go ahead throw rocks), but the part I like the best is when they have a current driver in the booth, their first hand current knowledge of the cars and the racing is great.

I had a problem with TNT last year because they were missing lead changes, wrecks and everything while they were at commercials and they weren't going back and showing it. Their Sonoma telecast last year, where they missed almost every spin and every lead change and never went back and showed them, that was the worst NASCAR telecast I've seen since the 1990s when TBS aired the Charlotte races.

I could do with not having any announcers what-so-ever.

Just give me an audio feed that consists of nothing but the sounds of the race, along with the scrolling leader board across the top of the screen, and I'm a happy camper.

You won't get hit with rocks by me. I happen to enjoy the commentary from MJ, DW and Larry McPenis. If anything I am kinda gonna miss them!

I don't have a problem with Fox or DW. I don't think PPV would work at all. I think you would lose a ton of fans, and I don't think you would gain any fans. I just don't understand the outcry from fans about the broadcasts with todays electronic technology that allows you to mute and fast forward in 4 different speeds through all the commercials. Maybe I'm just to easy going in my old age, or I have just been around long enough to know that the grass always looks greener on the otherside, and that you never know what you had until it's gone. Either way, I'm happy with the broadcasts that we have now.

Bob Jenkins, Benny Parsons, and Ned Jarrett from ESPN pre-2001 was the gold standard for announcing teams, IMO. Nobody since has even come close.

I liked BP and Ned Jarrett, but I hate Bob Jenkins. The man has the voice of a robot. Versus/NBC Sports Net brought him back to call IndyCar races through last year (before he retired again) and I hated him all over again.

Bob Jenkins is awesome. Leigh Diffey on NBCSN is downright terrible. I like everything else about F1 and IndyCar on NBC but Diffey is awful.

"Simoner" ... I wanted to throw my TV out the window when he said that. Come on - at least ATTEMPT to pronounce driver's names right.

goodness sakes why do some people love to hate DW??? I don't have a clue as to why this is. if you can't tell that DW is a nice and sincere guy I don't know what to say to you. I also feel like he does a great job. only thing I would do is I would like to see kyle petty with larry mac and DW

No one gets a 100% approval rating ;)

Nah, use the MRN / PRN feeds.

I don't hate DW,and I'm sure he's a nice and sincere guy, but I don't think he's a very good color commentator any more. He's extremely prone to favoritism; Jr. and Danica can do no wrong in his eyes. He jumps to conclusions regarding causes of accidents or equipment failures, and sometimes fails to acknowledge his misjudgement when the replays show him wrong. He's been out from behind the wheel so long that many of his comments are no longer relative; he had no experience with the COT and none with the Gen 6. I think he's better than Mikey's 'Rah-rah' performance on the Truck broadcasts, which in my opinion is the worst job of any on-air personality across all series and networks, but that's relative (in multiple sense of the word) and DW's not better by much and his schtick has grown old. Ricky Craven is a much better analyst. Yes, he's also been out of the car a while, but he does a much better job of explaining what's going on and doesn't have a pit box full of annoying mannerisms.

I'd love to hear what Alan Bestwick, Benny Parsons, and Larry Mac would sound like as produced and directed by whoever called the shots for TNN.

Good for you , getting Danica's name into this thread . Surely she is what is wrong with broadcasting today.

Have you been listening to 60 radion again nitro? I see a lot of songs in that post lol

Ok I'll bite the hook and defend DW on this one. When DW "jumps to a conclusion" on things that happen on the track he is putting forth his own personal experience and (which is far beyond any experience we can fathom!) and I must say in DW's defense that he hits the nail on the head a good 85% of the time! I will agree that he is a bit on the goofy side, but for me it is endearing. Now with all that said I just spit the hook out!!!

PRN is just awful. I listened to them a few times when I listened to the races on my iPhone at work and they had more commercials than they knew what to do with. I listened to an hour stretch of a Bristol race and they were at commercials for at least 45 minutes.

That's all you got from my post? I mention multiple reasons I don't like DW, and you focus on one of two drivers I think he favors? Fine, replace her name with Mikey's as the other driver DW roots for and then maybe you'll be able to get to the rest of the post.

Not a problem; to each his own. So his broadcast style doesn't appeal to me; there are obviously millions who like it or Fox would have replaced him. I don't think he's right as much as you do, but maybe if he'd deliver his theories with a touch of "It's possible..." or "That could have been..." then I would find his inaccuracies less annoying. Yes, he has more experience than I'll ever hope to, but Fox doesn't have to chose between he and I; there are plenty of potential replacements with as much experience and (in my opinion) better on-air skills.

I don't wish him ill, and I certainly enjoyed watching him drive, but I'm not going to miss him much when TNT takes over this weekend.

Don't forget his man crush on Kyle.

Ever heard the saying "he knows which side the bread is buttered on" D.W. AND every other announcer they have in the booth on any network are not going to say anything derogatory about Jr. or Danica. Can't believe people think they can't see what we see, but if you want to keep your job, you don't take a crap in your front room, or on mr. popular number 1 and miss number 2. Last year about as far as it got was Jr. hasn't won in two years..whoopie. Same thing goes for Kyle, as long as he is winning they will go on and on until he has a meltdown. D.W. points out problems cars have with the setups, especially on qualifying day, and because he is friend with many crew chiefs and drivers, he is privy to much of the scuttlebutt at the racetrack. He isn't out on the golf course and shows up on race day like so many of the other announcers. I don't think he is going anywhere anytime soon. Wonder why so many think the next race at Pocono is boring? might be the announcing is part of the story.

You just hit a home run, StandOnIt.

I absolutely cannot stand Mike Joy. He annoys me so much.

The races at Pocono, with the media crew covering it reminds me of baseball game announcers. they report the race alright, but very seldom do they get excited over anything that happens on the track. There will be very little insider information on individual teams, mostly information we already know. It will be so and so is having a good day today running whatever place they are in, no attempt at humor, you ever hear Ned or Mike crack a joke? It won't make any difference to me though, I will be watching, some of my favorite race tracks are coming up, and who knows the coverage might be better than it was in the past.

I'll bet someone will hit a perfect set up this weekend and pull away to a 1/2 mile lead . Folks on the forum will be calling for restrictor plates and phantom debris .:D
