Renewals are going on right now for the current members of the NASCAR Fan Council. In order for current members to renew a survey of 20 minutes or so has to be completed. I'm thinking that the general population is lazy and probably doesn't want to take the time to complete the survey. Maybe now is the time to go to their website to submit your application to join up or maybe you'd rather just bitch about things here?

I've tried to become a part of that a few times and they never select me. Not sure why. I've been watching NASCAR since 1975. I've seen the good and the bad of the sport.

It took me a long time to get in there. All I can say is keep on trying. Only takes a minute.

I tried to sign up but it says I have already submitted my responses, which I havent
I sure would have liked to have a say in some of the recent changes but it seems no one is listening to this council anyway

Perhaps you'll get in under the new selection format. Darts.

I hope they use a paper list rather than their computer screen.

IDK. Jeff Gluck did a series of polls about the changes, and over 60% liked the 16 drivers and driver eliminations. Only the winner take all race at Homestead was rejected.

I missed the first two years trying to get in so sometimes it takes awhile, they only have so many spots. This years survey is more detailed and I like it. I wonder if they compare past responses, if so they probably get a kick out of the differences.

That link is for the survey for members. You'll probably need to go the NASCAR.com and work from there.

Thank you, I try to avoid Nascar.com but I will give it a go. My old computer doesnt do well with that new site

But we get the Homestead mess anyway ??? I guess I have no choice but to accept things as they are, maybe it wont be so bad after all. I enjoy this sport too much to let anything ruin it for me.

My attitude will be to not care much about he championship and just enjoy the racing. If this helps put the gentleman's agreement to rest, I'm all for it.

Thats kind of the approach I have been using anyway but somebody always has to remind me that my driver hasnt won the cup yet

I applied in December 2009 and was accepted in January of 2010. Maybe they like my essays.

The big annual surveys are fun.

I lost count on my fingers and I have my shoes on but It took me two years to get in and I've been in for three, that and an ice cream cone makes "good eats".

Yep, and a damned good one it was, I may not be in it much longer. :D

If you get my drift.

Another survey tonight. Big on the new chase system.

Hmmmmmmmm!

I have to say that while I do like taking part in their fan council most everything is reactive rather than proactive with their surveys. I hear Brian France say that these changes are in reaction to the fans interests yet they never asked me in advance if I thought this most recent change was a good idea. I only ever get asked about something that they've already done. Who is Brian listening to? I never saw an outcry for this change on Twitter. They weren't calling for it on NASCAR Radio. I don't remember being asked anything about it by anybody at any of the races that I attended last year. Honestly, I don't think I ever met the fan that he's been talking to.

It seems obvious to me that NASCAR isn't looking for original ideas from the fan council. What they want is a way to gauge what the fans reaction will be to the stuff they are planning so they can do better marketing to convince fans to buy into whatever changes the are making.

In other words, the fan council is a marketing tool.

Except that it isn't gauging the fan reaction to something they are planning. They announce the change and only then do they ask for a reaction. That was my point with the post. Why isn't it used to gauge reaction to a proposed change rather than an implemented change? I think that they've got a great tool available. They just don't know how to use it.

I just opened this to ask if nascar had run the changes by the council first, even though I had a feeling I already knew the answer. thanks for confirming that.

The moral of the story is...tools don't use tools.
