i've seen some great things for sure, a couple of crashes that were hard to believe the driver survived, micheal watrip & years later mike harmon, both at bristol, were the worse wrecks i seen live. but the year johnboy & billy (local radio host from charlotte) ran that giant shopping buggy around bristol...wow...how that banking didn't take them out. you could see billy was scared bad, still shakin when it was over...my fondest was at charlotte, guest in the pits with jimmy means and the front tire changers daughter had a broke arm and wanted to get dale earnhardt to sign her cast, but her dad was busy and her mom wasn't up for it so i said i would walk with her and try. well off we went, and found dale, and she went straight up asked him to sign her cast, well he said no, boy was i mad, ready to cuss the man, but all of a sudden he said the cast will get cut off, let me sign your white t-shirt, and you can keep it 4ever. after signing he said to keep walking and get every driver to sign it also. well every driver did except one, he said no because it had dale earnhardt name already on it, she said she didn't really care if he sign it or not that dale was the best. so as we headed back to means' pitbox, dale actually chased us down and asked how did it go, she told him all but one signed it. he said show me who and when she took him to that driver and pointed him, next words were...waltrip (darrell) you're gonna sign this and you need to quit acting like a little baby...never was an earnhardt fan but i did have respect for him after that.
