Timms was coming like a bat out of hell late in the race. Seavey may have faded in the closing laps, but he has been showing his ability quickly in that ride.

Yeah I was wondering the same thing. The back end of the race is when Seavey does most of his magic in a non wing car. This explains it.
Note: in the winged 410 cars the driver can slide the wing back or forward to change the balance during the race.
