Hmiel fined and docked points

No I think Rusty's comments speak for themselves. You see DJ just so happened to punt him last year at.......Martinsville?......Loudon?...... anyway his words speaks volumes as to how I am sure most of the drivers in the garage feel. Rusty along with many or may I say a majority of those drivers would have done the same thing. And again I will think out of the box. Any physical sport that involves athletes to compete at a high level will result on occassion them confronting one another. I'll say it again like a freakin broken record, I do not have a problem with Shame flippin anybody off. I'd expect it from most drivers. Flippin someone off as they turned away then making a lame ass "your an old fart" comment is well lame. I am sure he was afraid of DJ punching him ala Michael Waltrip style. Man that would hurt.

And post the rest of that article.....especially Jeff Burton's comments about what he thinks of the situation...

Jeff Burton's comments is again in regards to fining someone for giving another the bird. I said a million times I have no probem with it. Here is a good one for you. Say when Jimmie punted Jeff last week at Bristol. Jeff made a good attempt at going out of his way to point out Jimmy as he drove by. Hmmmm.... I wonder what would have happen had their been a red flag. I guess we will never know huh?

Interesting Article

Only Earnhardt, it seemed, remained true to his and stock-car racing's roots. An unrepentant redneck--with his bristle-brush mustache, mirrored sunglasses, and penchant for flipping the bird at the drivers he passed on the track--he was the last link to NASCAR's backwoods, outlaw origins.

Didn't seem to be a problem then. Why is it now? And, I dare say he was never penalized for it...

More flipping

Another article
A few years back when I worked at Winston Cup Scene, two drivers who shall remain nameless wrecked each other three or four times before finally taking each other out for good.

From the track, the discussion moved inside the hauler, where one driver gave the other a black eye while his wife flipped the bird at the assembled group of reporters standing at the back of the trailer.

One of our photographers got a picture of the finger-flipping wife, which prompted the driver to call the paper on Monday and threaten one of its editors with an old-fashioned ass-whipping if the picture appeared in print — which, of course, it did, but that’s not the point.

Lawdy, even the wimmen folks flip off people!!! What is this old world coming to?
Oh, and who were the 2 drivers?

A recent flip by a notable

How can we ever forget Rusty's immortal words
Sunday, Tony made contact with two cars three times (Jeff Gordon once and Rusty Wallace twice) in the first six laps. After nearly sending Wallace out of the racetrack thru the wall, he spent much of an ensuing caution period flipping Rusty the bird. Wallace was clearly very angry after the fact, and even said that he would stick that finger somewhere for Tony. Tony then, in typical Tony style, left the premises with no comment, leaving his boss at Joe Gibbs racing to explain what Tony was thinking. The explanations were laughable.

Remind me again how many points Tony Stewart was docked for flipping off Rusty? Who one could argue is every bit as big a star as DJ.
I mean he turned him twice, not just once like Shane did, and continually flipped him off at every chance. All poor Shane got was one flip and a costly one at that.

Folks, the point of this is for you to stop and think and put the blame where it needs to be. First, on NASCAR for letting the confrontation take place. Second, on FOX for televising the incident. They did it for the ratings. You know it. I know it. It's about the money. And, finally, third on DJ himself. He is a seasoned veteran. He should have known what the response would likely be. And, saying it was a father-son talk is crap. The last thing any of us wants is someone (and sometimes even our own father) to come along and chastise us in front of millions and millions of people. Did Shane do the right thing, flipping off Jarrett? Of course not. Is it excusable? No. Understandable? Yes. Very much so. The points deduction was totally uncalled for. Where are all of the people that were upset last year about points deduction for Lil'E cussing? Is this any different? In my mind no. Yet, we have some of the same people coming forward and wanting Shane castrated and sent back to tricycles. At least be consistent. Fined, maybe. But, certainly not $25,000. That too is excessive. NASCAR is not consistent with their fines and points. Fairness shold be available for all of the drivers regardless of if it is their 1st time in the seat or their last.

Flipping someone off is childish, immature the actions of a coward who is to *&^%$# afraid to say it to the person face to face!

Guys, NASCAR is NASCAR and reserves the right to do whatever the hell they want. If they want to fine a driver and take points away, they will. If that driver/owner is on the good side of NASCAR, they may take back the fine and points. Remember, NASCAR is in flux.

One thing for sure, Shane Hmiel isn't Dale Earnhardt, or even Dale Jr. If Shane ever wins a few races, or a title, or something like that, he will then be given a little more leeway with the sanctioning body. I said it before and I'll say it again, Shane wasn't just fined for flipping the bird, it was a combination of all that went on. He probably would have been fine had he not so disrespect a former Cup champion. Just my opinion here.
