Arent those cars pre-inspected before qualifing??? How did his car loose 19 pounds during qualifing? That reminds me of the article I read about how teams can fill up their cars with Extra weight and dump it out onto the track...the example was BB's. I think it was in a recent SI issue.

Shame for Shane, lots of ground for him to make up tonight.
The team says it was a mistake and I would tend to think it probably was. Can't imagine what they did, unless in shifting the leadboxes around at some point they removed weight and forgot to put it back.

Way early in the morning but as I recall, water (and probably gas too) wieghs something like 6 pounds a gallon. Doesn't seem like to far a stretch to use a few pounds of gas and have the rest blow out the radiator.
