Storyline – High wear and hot racing at Homestead: Homestead-Miami Speedway is one of the more high tire wear race tracks on the NASCAR Cup Series circuit. The abrasive track surface, combined with the track configuration and progressive banking, makes for a lot of passing throughout the field and great racing. Also, with 10 sets of tires for the 267-lap race, crews will be busy with four-tire stops all day, highlighting the team aspect of the sport.

“Tire wear is always the story at Homestead, and Cup teams will see more than two seconds of lap-time fall-off over the course of a run,” said Greg Stucker, Goodyear’s director of racing. “At high wear tracks, drivers can impact their teams’ fortunes by managing their tires. Those that are easier on their tires early in a run can gain spots later because their fall-off will be less. That difference in driving styles leads to more comers and goers and passing throughout the field.”

Notes – Fourth Cup race on this tire set-up this season: Being on 18-inch bead diameter tires, NASCAR Cup teams will run a different tire set-up than those in the Xfinity and Craftsman Truck Series at Homestead this week . . . this is the same left-side tire code Cup teams have run at Homestead since 2022 . . . this right-side code is new in 2024 (construction update) . . . this is the same tire set-up Cup teams have run twice at Darlington and on the Charlotte oval this year . . . Cup teams have also run this right-side tire code with a different left-side code at Kansas, Las Vegas, Nashville, Pocono and Texas this season . . . with this 18-inch tire, and its lower profile sidewall, NASCAR Cup cars do not run inner liners in any of their tires.

I've been championing this for like two years. But no one listens to my podcast I guess.... I hope the championship race rotates I think that'd be the chicken salad to this chicken $hit of a points format.

Or… a championship round at those 3 tracks. That would turn the dumpster fire format into just a dumpster.

Maybe the championship 4 should start last in the championship race. Make it challenging. Make them fight traffic etc. Start off on equal footing, no clean air.

One of my favorite tracks of the year, it's a miscarriage of justice this isnt the Championship Race. Fun race, fun track. Excited for this one this week
My wife and I were living in SW Florida from 2013 until mid 2023. We went to every championship race there until they moved it to Phoenix. Really good venue, good sight lines from the upper levels. Will never forget the race Carl Edwards nearly won before he wrecked late. Had no clue it would be his last. Took customers there, took our son one year. Great memories. Love how they run both the truck and Xfinity there on Saturday now.

From memory, Larson dominated that race in the 42 until a late caution. Then that wreck happened which essentially handed the Cup to Johnson.

So ****** jacked for today. I love this stuff. I can because I am not a real race fan. Every year, the excitement builds. More jacked than ever. Reddick has a great car, and a great opportunity. Have to execute. Enjoy the race everybody! Two weeks to MY Christmas....on my knees praying that I have one of MY Toyotas to cheer for!

He is starting right next to the GOAT so it could be a pretty exciting first lap in today's race. :D
