You'll need an event ticket for grandstand access, but you can come and go as you please during the race to the infield/garages.

We went over last night for the duals, but it didn't seem like it would work Sunday.

Different tracks may have different rules, but I had my passes for the Coke 600 in 2015. I had some cheap turn 4 seats from which I watched the first 160 or so laps from, and then went down to Gordon's pit box and watched the remainder from there.

Been dying to get more passes since then, it's an unreal experience for sure.
