doubt the racing forum is the correct place for this thread, but it has the most members on it daily & id love to know the answer.

How did you find out about racing-forums.com existence & why did you decide to sign up?

My answer is I find forums more Informational & quicker paced than Facebook & Twitter. I'm on several forums including forums for my favorite bands & other sports teams. So I googled "NASCAR forum" & I think it was #1 or 2 on the list. I snooped around for a bit & figured the members were sensible enough to converse with :D I really don't have many people to talk about NASCAR with here at school (they think the sport is asanine) so I found an online medium!

Plus if this forum is ever short of members we can use this threads answers to know where to advertise :p

Similar to you, Chex. I love forums for information, plus I like the community that they have. After checking nascar.com and hating that one, I did a google search for "best nascar forum" and this one came up. Another really weird one came up that was basically totally text based and that was not what I wanted. I came here, read for awhile and posted.

Had some posting problems at first and got weird messages and thought it was because I have danica as my driver at first but the admins straightened everything out. Great forum and great people!

Message boards still have a place. If you follow anything intensely, a top message board is usually where the best information is first, with the most context. Whether its sports or a band or your industry, there's a message board out there for it.

Look at this Malaysia plane mystery, very quickly I found message boards of professional pilots and reading them discuss the issue was 10x more enlightening than watching CNN speculate on whether a black hole had eaten the plane.

If there's an issue I want to follow closely, I'll find an industry message board and then industry journalists on twitter. That combination seems to work well.

Tapatalk

Saw it listed, checked it out, saw the posts but joined anyways.

It's a good message board overall. What I like best is that there are a few people here that seem to love NASCAR as much as I do. But it's a message board and there are times when I want to cyber strangle someone (and people want to cyber strangle me) but if I didn't like it here I wouldn't bother posting.

After the MWR fiasco at Richmond last year I decided to try to find a nascar message board because I figured there would be lots of interesting things being said in the nascar world a that time.

I googled nascar forums and RF was at the very top of the list.

looked for it on google. My other forum was Lame it had only a few posters and not much info. Followed this one for a week or two and liked the posters and how they interacted, but most of all I like TRL and how she didn't let threads turn into a troll fest.

I had followed ThatsRacing for a number of years but it got to a point where the comments went way below my standards. Gave up forums for awhile. Decided to do a search and found this place and I've been a happy race fan since.

TR was a fun place when it was unmoderated. I joined that site in 99.
What was your name there?

I was FuryIII, catkiller, and blakr....

...not at the same time. lol

I used to browse the Speed boards a lot until they closed down...Found this one through Google

As a marketing guy with a few clients in the garage, I read boards like this to keep my finger on the pulse of fan opinion. I learn a bunch of things too. I usually just lurk - no idea why I started actually posting on this one...seems like a good group here. Though I quickly learned not to share any of the things I hear from drivers and owners after that Jeff Gordon debacle...so I mostly just lurk again. ;)

I found it when I was Googlin something and ended up here. I've been lurking for so long that I feel like I know ya'll :punkrocke :owquitit:.

lol, I can only imagine why you had 3 accounts.

It wasn't anything sinister. I used one name at a time, and didn't try to hide who I was.
Everyone there knew blakr, FuryIII, and catkiler were the same person.

Found it the same way we find everything else these days. Google 'nascar chat' when Rowdy.com hit the skids and rolled over.

I've belonged to many forums in the past, starting in the mid 90s with IRace --- I think. Most degenerated into flame wars between posters ---- the nasty comments were just horrible. A couple of others were designed as race forums, but most of the threads were "good morning", "how is school/work/vacation", "what's the weather", etc. ---if they mentioned a race or a driver it was briefly and only in passing.

I came here when the original owner/creator first opened --- early 2001.

Dont even remember.

It's been that long.

This name isn't even the one I registered as. I feel ancient.

Honestly I use this site on my phone 90% of the time and I have the homepage bookmarked on my iphone. It gives me the mobile version and works and looks just like the desktop version. I tried Tapatalk for a few mins and it was too chaotic for my taste.

I was Zerkfitting but I didn't contribute much because threads seemed to go off topic within a few comments. I mostly hit like or dislike until there was nothing to like anymore.

I like the simplicity of Tapatalk and that I can stay logged on to several forums using only one app.

I found it one day while searching for a good Nascar forum that wasnt populated by a bunch of jerks. Mighty glad I found it too, I  you guys and gals you are a fine bunch of people :)
