How does Casey Mears do it?

What we he gain from lying? He's proven more than an enough times that he knows what he's talking about, and proved he's the real deal when it comes to his connections and knowing of what's going on behind the scene.

If I thought that what he was saying made any logical sense I'd not ask for a credible source. So many people use forums as an avenue to inflate their own importance due their "connections." I've been around various forums for 20 years and have heard it all. Asking for a credible source is part of the deal when expounding on things they claim are facts.

Meh, he does make a good point. I often tell people that if they're ever feeling insecure, the thing to do is jump on the internet and pretend to know the in's and out's of Germain Racing. It's a rush everyone should experience at least once...

I don't understand this crap . You got 43 ( oops 40) drivers . You take out the 30th place driver out , you still got 40 drivers . You take out the 20th place driver out, you still got 40 drivers . Because some of you guys don't care for a particular driver , it ain't gonna change a thing if you take him out , there will still be another 30th place driver there for you to crap on .That's racin ...you only want to see the top 5 drivers go at it ? , that ain't racin .

I think it would be cool if the lesser teams could have their own race and the top teams and drivers could race afterward. Maybe have 20-25 drivers in the opener and 15-20 in the main event.

Indeed. At Eldora, perhaps. Or The Rock / planned strip mall.

So no credible source. Noted.

If you have read Allen's contributions over the past year or so you know he has no ax to grind with anyone and graciously lets us in on goings on that otherwise we would not be privy to. He is fair and the first one to say if he is unsure of or does not know something to be fact. The ultimate irony for me is that you are asking him for a credible source when many others would report what he says because he is a credible source.

The lesser teams do race each other every week . Some of us grew up watching the races going on within the race , others don't give a crap for any other drivers but the top five . You can tell every week by the 'rate the race ' thread , there are a lot of fans who are wearing blinders. Too bad , they miss so much racing.

That is why I thought it would be neat to give some of the lesser teams there own race where they would be on more equal footing. I suppose the risk would be that no one would watch but I would like to see races with Mears, Almirola, Almendinger, McMurray and other drivers like that. I think it would be fun and it would be nice to see some different people win too.

You're very confused. You used nice in a sentence about professional auto racing.

I will try to assist you. If some different people want to win, they will have to figure out how to run faster. For longer. These things are fundamental to success in this endeavour.

Appreciate the kind words. Though, joking aside, I do get what he's saying, and never take it personally. It's the internet...anyone can be and say whatever they want. I just think it's funny that of all the things I've posted here, and all the experiences I've been blessed to have in auto racing (two years ago today I did the friggin Double!!!!), what goes on behind the scenes at Germain Racing is how I choose to be a big shot. That's the best part.

Having said all this, at the end of the day, there are three major races going on today and I've chosen to spend the weekend at the beach with my family. I'm not "important" to racing one bit. Few people are.

Totally. Every team out there is realistic with their expectations, and have their own individual goals for every race...whether it be finishing top 15, top 20, top 25, 30, whatever. Those "lap down" races are REAL. To the teams, the drivers, and to the fans who know to watch them.

It is ironic that Germain would bring out a doubter as opposed to something like Kurt and Particia Driscoll. I hope you and your family are having a great time and great weather.

I admit I was a little skeptical of Allen too at first, but I've seen several instances where he called something that was nowhere to be found anywhere else, and it turned out to be true. I'm pretty sure the guy's legit.
Allen is too legit . Every time he opens up on here , he runs the risk of alienating potential friends and customers in the garage area . There is no percentage in us trying to engage him in debate. Just listen and learn .

It is good to know that each team has realistic expectations and goals as some teams would probably count it a victory if they finished less than 3-4 laps down while the 48 is going to be unhappy if they are not good enough to win.

I think that pretty much sums up all sports .

There are people who are involved with the sport that come here. I have seen media stories generated by comments here. I have no doubt allenbada is an insider, his a comments have too much detail and common sense to be made up.

Allenbada, perhaps you could explain the sponsor broker deal. Is this common to the sport? I would think company execs and team owners would get rid of the middle man for obvious reasons. Part of the sport is hospitality I would think this would allow team owners to get rid of the middle man

Don't want to put words in Allen's mouth , but if you have every watched a movie or tv show about advertising agencies , you will know that they place the sponsors money into the advertsing market . There have always been agencies in the middle .

Unlike most owners and sponsors, Geicos not greedy. If they can keep their logo out there for all nascars fans to see, and break even doing it.. It's considered a success. .... The money will come sooner or later thru sales.

Yeah but why Casey Mears as driver?

Caseys a goodlookin guy who carries himself well on and off the track. He's a "winning" driver whose last name is Mears.
Winning and name recognition, never comes cheap. It does with Casey.
Best part about it is, Caseys willing to priortize company goals rather than personal goals.
Finding a winning driver with name recognition, at that price tag, that is willing to do that is like finding a needle in a haystack. This guy understands and accepts his role on the team
Which again, is keep the car on the track for 500 miles and maximize the potential eyes looking at the Geico logo. As long as he can stay put of trouble, Geico would undoubtedly keep that bottom line above the $0.00 goal.
And last, Caseys gonna do it all without any controversy.

At the end of the day... It's Geico and Casey looking to do the same thing... collect a check.
That's driver/sponsor marriage folks.

Nascar has those races, every Saturday (or sometimes Friday night, when the Cup race is a Saturday show).

How dare you make practical sense out of the business of auto racing. Money talks. I'd rather see somebody like Blaney or Buescher get the backing but I'm not the one cutting the checks.

I've never understood the disdain for midpackers on this board. It's not like guys like Mears, Almirola, and Menard are taking top tier rides from a rising star. Those are all equal pairings of equipment and driving talent in my book. There are 40 drivers in the field. Gotta fill it with somebody.

And , one more thing . Sorry to burst people's illusions about Nascar racing , but ugly people , guys and girls , need not apply . Clean cut young guys like Chase Elliott and good looking ladies like Danica , are a sponsor's dream .
