How many other motorsports have no practice sessions?

I'm surprised that some of the top teams haven't adapted to lack of testing while some of the smaller teams have become more competitive. I do miss qualifying (pit stall #1 is an advantage).

That 20-30 and qualifying is better than nothing. It could be better tho. But meh, not like what fans want matter anymore and some people seem to be okay with that.

Agreed. Just not a fan of them moving the goalposts to a 20-30 minute practice session and calling it good.

Like, I understand from the owners stand point that everyone wants to push, I get that. But like from a fan perspective, I really couldn’t care less about that. It’s like a great part of the weekend, even when you don’t go to the actual race. But it seems this will be the best we get.

I'm dizzy from reading this. Its simple, COVID F'd up everyone's plans. Track Promoters who built new garages and lost their gate, Team owners taking cuts in Sponsorship to keep from losing it all. Costs on everything that involves racing going thru the roof at a time when you are trying to introduce a new car. Its cause and effect, NASCAR didnt cause this, the track owners didnt cause it and the sponsors didnt either.

They all have to collectively work together until we can get a handle on the Pandemic which globally effects us all then we will see a return to normalcy. Maybe not 2 day practices but I see an increase across the board when the economy can sustain it.

I wonder if the race team members are liking this new schedule? I’d think so?

I don’t see what’s so hard to comprehend. Perhaps NASCAR needs to take a hard look and cut costs more with their cars and engineering if IndyCar is doing practice and qualifying.

Indy only runs 20 races or so, only one of them over 350 miles, without the expense of backup cars. How far do you want to carry this comparison?

As much as NASCAR wants to keep charging normal ticket prices and camping and garage experiences.

Also you don’t HAVE to wreck your backup car in practice.

NASCAR doesn't charge for anything. Tracks charge for tickets and camping and garage experiences. Camping and garage visits have always been additional charges beyond the race admission.

Are you willing to accept IndyCar's schedule to run P&Q like they do? If not, then comparison between the two don't matter.

It’ll return next year. Let’s not forget folks, it wasn’t until the Coke 600 we could race with a full stands

NASCAR owns the tracks man…………. IndyCar has a practice, qualifying, a warm-up session. Way more than what NASCAR is doing in 2022. Which is more than enough.

I never said they need 3-4 hours like you allude to.

Shame on me it almost took a week for the light bulb to go on and for me to post this

I mean I’m not complaining but it seems a little complex like everything else? Better than the no practice
