How to make the stock car more stock?

NASCAR is a manufacturer's expression of its brand within a tight box. It is an engineering exercise. I have no problem with it, and no need to go to the showroom and buy what Kyle Busch drives. I take pride in my manufacturer's commitment to sport and its passion, and I enjoy the competition with other willing participants. I love this sport. I take pride in my manufacturer's involvement.

Going back to stock bodies and floors would be the best thing Nascar could do. So have no worries, B. France would never do anything that might make things better. The cars they are using this year was not his idea, give that credit to the engineers. The racing this year is as good as last years racing was bad. Stock bodies are not a cure all for what ails Nascar, but it would help with the aero problems.

Personally I couldn't care less how much these cars look like the cars on the showroom floor. That's probably one of the last things that I think about when I watch a race. If I could ask for anything in the change of appearance on these cars it would be that they were sponsored enough to run the same paint scheme for an entire season. Like running cars that appear exactly like the ones at the dealers, that ain't gonna happen.

Left side chassis with stock bodies and floor pans would work fine, there is always going to be the need for modifications to make things work.

It's not so much the way the cars look. There are other reasons I would like to see them go back to stock bodies. But I have to agree with you on this. It ain't gonna happen.

I take it that you weren't around when Nascar was forced to go with more common templates . They were reacting to screams from fans , drivers and owners about tiny advantages given to one make or another by their body styles . Nascar had no choice but to level the playing field because they were being accused of favoring one brand or another . This forum would implode if Nascar went back to that .

Not to mention Jack Roush.

I know going full stock ain't gonna happen & I'd prefer it didn't. I wanna see a racecar not a showroom car. It's just the little things. Real grills, real exhaust tips, real head/tail lamps (even though they aren't used), no shovel splitters, no fake door handle decals etc... keep the racecar in the racecar for sure but just tiny things that would make audiences believe stock car racing was just that.
