HUMMMMM

Funny, someone not long ago, right after Sonoma, said that the bad finish there would derail his season. Yup, sure is falling apart, ain't it?
 
There sure as heck aren't as many Junior haters around here as there were last year . It would be fun to dredge up some of their earlier posts , but they would just say they were kidding .
 
As someone who has been labeled a "Junior Hater" in the past...I just would like to point out that I have never said that Junior was a "no talent driver" I stated he was a "very overrated driver" and I stand by that statement. Untill he is leading the points when the checkered flag falls at Homestead, I will STILL stand by my stance that he is overrated.

So the only way is for him to win a championship to lose your "overrated" tag?

In my mind..pretty much....when you are "NASCAR's most popular driver" and so many of your fans act like you are the "best out there"...well you gotta do something big to earn those kind of accolades, aside from having a famous last name, so what is bigger in NASCAR than the cup championship? I mean if you are THAT good, you should be able to win atleast one..right?!?

Not necessarily. People are fans of different drivers for all kinds of races, not just because they win races.

That is true, but what does it have to do with a drivers skill being overrated? You don't win, but as long as you are liked you are good?
 
So how does a driver who has never won a championship rate , like Mark Martin ? Or a driver who can't make the chase like Jeff Gordon ? I think they are all great drivers .

So Gordon misses the chase this year and suddenly he "can't" make the chase? I think that might be a little grasping at straws to try to prove some kind of point.

All I am trying to say is that Junior is OVERRATED. I did not say he wasn't a good driver. He may be on par with a guy like Mark Martin, who has always been a solid driver but never won a championship, but Martin didn't have the hype always following him that Junior does. Having one solid year doesn't even come close to making Junior live up to the expectations or even the "hype" that follows him around.

If Gordon doesn't make the chase this year, it does mean he could not do it, that should be obvious. And the bad luck blues needs to be set aside, he is the Hendricks non winner 2012. What happened to that refuse to lose tee shirt Gordon fans Used to wear.

I will be the first to admit I thought Jr was not driving up to his potential and the numbers support that. I was never a "hater" by any stretch. I am extremely pleased with the season he is having this year Heck, the last race he won, I was able to walk out to the parking lot and drive away because 2/3's of those at the track were Jr's fans and they were going to get every cent worth.
 
Blah blah blah. Jr is a different man this year. He gets out of his car after the race, and he's there. He doesn't look all used up. That used to be his tune, now, it's different somehow.

I was simply responding to what someone else had said about Gordon "can't" make the chase in some defense of Junior. As far as the "bad luck blues" getting set aside, there is usually reasons why drivers who usually perform well are not. Gordon not performing well is just as shocking as Junior actually performing...I guess they have switched roles....
