It's kinda iffy here. They say that It could go into the Gulf and turn North and zero in on us as a cat 2-4. Hope not but being a true Floridian it is what it is.
 
I just moved to Brevard County last month. It’s not looking great, to say the least. I’m going to head to Tampa for USF/Wisconsin tomorrow and then stay with friends or family out there until it blows over.

I'm ready to go, we have jugs, bottles, and tupperware containers of tap water filled, flashlights, power batteries to charge my phone, battery radios, and fans... as well as 2 weeks of food and liter for the cats. Plus I live inland on the third floor, so no need to worry about inland flooding
 
Okay that's it, after Dorian, I'm going to look into moving out of this state and into an area less vulnerable to severe weather, I mean this is just getting too much for me to handle. The constant emotional roller coaster

That's why I finally moved out of Houston in 2003 --- just couldn't hack the anxiety anymore. Packed up twice in 2002 because of potential storms -- last straw.
 
Yeah, these new forecasts aren't good. They're good for Florida, but not good for me.

MSNBC just said it's taking the same path as Matthew and that's good news. Um, Matthew was an epic disaster in North Carolina.
 
Guy I worked with is retired but occasionally does ''cat'' duty, catastrophe, as a independent adjuster working for Pilot. He got the call to pack his bags today.
 
Just woke up to the Weather Channel and saw Blowhard Cantore inform me of the tracking change of Dorian. Up Fla. East coast into Ga. & the Carolinas. If you are down there, be safe, be smart.
 
Prep is pretty much done, have to put away some loose bits though.

Whatever happens, happens. That's the thing about hurricanes, its nature and practically impossible to predict where its going. I'm curious to see come tomorrow where it will most likely end up. I'm thinking it hits the coast, but it is what it is.

Were directly in the middle of the state, too.
 
My dad moved back to Texas last fall after living in Florida for 5 years, and being in Miami during Hurricane Irma.

He says he's glad he's not in Florida right now!
 
Prayers out for the poor souls in the Bahamas, it has sat there and pounded the living sh*t out them. I can not imagine what it is like to sit there with 165 to 200 MPH wind non stop for over 24 hours. I would hope to be alive to tell the story.
I've been through 12 hours of 90 to 120 MPH winds, but, this is a whole new level oh holy crap.

Dorian is nothing to laugh about, but this is a little on the funny side.

I'm going to Maryland for my niece's birthday. Just going to have to leave a couple days earlier and might not make it home until early next week.

The only part I'm worried about is being stuck if I do stay behind. You can't leave North Carolina for a week once the storm hits. Hell, Florence had I-95 completely shut down for over a week.

Watching the national news coverage of this is comical. They're playing up Florida as ground zero for some catastrophe.

This is a North Carolina storm, like Matthew. And, like Matthew, the national media won't care when it hits here.

As a South Florida resident, for us, it seems like the Tropical Storm Force Winds are all we are going to get from this
