listening to the race announcers using TWO languages to announce a purely American race in Canada.
Just goes to show what NOT having a national language does to a country.

Here in America we used to have 1 language but now I'm not sure how many we have.

it's no different than circuit hermanos rodriguez down in mexico, they did pre race bilingually.

FYI Canada has 2 national languages and our national anthem is song using both. I might be wrong but weren't the race announcers Americans? Now the track announcers were French Canadian and since a majority of the crowd in attendance speak French doesn't it make sense to use both languages?

Makes sense to me as well.

Not to me it don't!

There are folks in western canada that cannot even TALK to people in their same country! WHy have two languages? Senseless..

Can you speak Spanish? How many people in the USA can't speak english?

EVERYONE that has been to our public schools can at least SPEAK english!! Only the illegals cannot speak our language! If I run across a spanish speaking individual That cannot speak english I KNOW that person is illegal.
Canada is a different situation all together.

So you're saying that every legal landed immigrate in the United States, Cubans, Mexicans, East Indians etc. can speak English? I know this is not true in Canada.

Or Miami? I'd even challange the "if you attended Public schools..." argument. We have billingual classrooms here. You can go to school without fluency in English. Unlike some, I LOVE that I can hear 5 diferent languages spoken when I go in to stores here. But to the original point. I like the pre race festivities were done in French (and Spanish when in Mexico).
