I don't get it

Gordon- How am I tolling these boards? I have made one thread asking for specific help. And that's fine if you don't understand the sports you like. I however enjoy the sports I watch the more I understand them. So I was simply looking for someone to better explain to me what to look for. I am not expecting someone to give me the all the answers in a paragraph. I just wanted something more than "pick a favorite driver" or "you like it or you don't."

I feel like a lot of the guys here, myself included, have gave you some pretty good feedback...what more do you want?

I asked some WWE fans similar questions in a WWE related thread on DBS Talk. (not that WWE and NASCAR have similarities other than some crossover in fan base) Let me just say that the responses here were much more civil than what I saw in the WWE thread. Most defensive people ever.

As a fan of both NASCAR and WWE, I can relate to this! LOL...However, I can probably explain my taste for NASCAR much better than my taste for WWE...not sure I even know why I like that stuff other than I have watched it my whole life LOL.

Jeff all I would have to say is that Nascar is not going to be liked by everyone, it may be your sport and it may not be. I can't seem to get into Golf or Pro Basketball, but that's because it's not my click. But I did give all the sports a chance and found racing to be my favorite. Would suggest you go see some short track racing and see where most of these guys got there start and maybe that will help you understand how they got to be Nascar Stars. Allso look at the team support as a whole when watching the race. It's not just the driver driving the car around the track, it's lots of preperation back at the shop, pit crews working to perfect their pit stops. crew chiefs making the right judgement calls on when to pit or making changes to the car when it not handling right. There's alot more in racing that meets the eye if you just turn on the TV and decide to watch cars going around in circles. Hope you'll take the time to get a little more into racing, it's really a great sport.

Most People Watch Nascar for crashes and excitment.

I don't know if "most" people do but we all have our own reasons for watching and that's our choice. Keeping in mind that crashes are used to market Nascar so what else can we expect?

That Allison(s) vs Yarborough set-to is to this day used to sell Nascar so if people like seeing fights, it's been sold to them.

I don't but my kid loves wrecks and fire. But I'm teaching him to appreciate side by side racing even when it's in the pack. He was helping to point it out to me at the last couple of races.

Good on you, I bet he will always remember the Father/Son times like that, and cherish the memories.

What were the questions? I'm a big WWE fan so I'm just curious.

Thanks. That's what its all about. As a leftover bonus from our Charlotte trip, I received the new RCCA catalog the other day and discovered that he and I are right up front and center of the group picture taken at their open house. To a kid his age its about as cool as it gets.

Asked about the appeal of certain things: predetermined results, wrestlers are buddies that hangout backstage but pretend to be enemies in the ring, steroid use is rampant, etc.
Well I mainly watch cause I enjoy the matches that they put together. Yes I know it's fake but it still takes tremendous athletic ability to do what these guys do in the ring. Plus they also have to a character as well so not only do they have to be athletic but they have to be entertaining which is where a lot of guys have trouble cause tons of guys have the athletic ability but they aren't entertaining. I know the results are predetermined but most of the time you still don't know who is going to win the matches cause of the story lines.
And it doesn't bother me that the guys are buddies backstage yet pretend to be enemies in the ring, everyone over the age of 12-15 generally knows it's all one big show. Plus these guys have the shortest off-season compared to any other sport. They work over 230 days a year. Their travel schedules are insane.
Steroid use has decreased big time over the last few years, yes there are still some guys who use it but WWE has switched over a bit to guys who are athletic but still look normal.
I've watched it all my life and I continue to do so mainly cause it's just fun.
