Ideal Cup Schedule

Hell no! Laguna Seca would be a disaster in stock cars

Since it’s an off week and it’s a slow week, I dug this thread up once again for our newer members and new ideas.

I've been working on a "Hell Tour" NASCAR schedule. It has 300 dates and is in no way based in reality, but I'm only about halfway done.

Revisiting based on the recent shakeups:

NASCAR Preseason
  1. Daytona International Speedway Road Course
  2. Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum

RP tracks are special and should only happen at special times.

Henceforth I would be in favor or reserving every February 29th for a RP race. Daytona and Talledage could rotate the dates.

I like the way you think

Ironically I think some of us predicted/wanted All-Star at NWS.

I got bored again. Montreal, Brickyard 400 seem like real possibilities. Tried my best to be realistic as possible.

A New Zealand street course in there might be nice
I thought nascar is all about trying to make it more affordable for teams? There is nothing affordable about having to ship crews, cars, and equipment halfway around the world.

I like what you're doing there with the schedule. Bristol needs to go back to August, Vegas needs to be the finale.

I’m going to die on this hill. Rotate the Championship Race among: Homestead-Phoenix-Vegas- Fontana-Nashville FGS-Texas-Atlanta

I've always thought that Charlotte should be the finale in order to wrap things up in NASCAR's backyard.
Well with the way both schedules currently fall the World of Outlaws World Finals and NASCAR Championship fall on the same weekend.

Just some of what I would do:

Keep Los Angeles and Chicago races for sure. If Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum is no longer viable, go to Long Beach. If Grand Park is no longer viable, go back to Chicagoland.

Get a race in New York City area, whether it's a street race or converting one of the three horse racing tracks into a NASCAR venue.

Add: Road America and/or Milwaukee Mile, Mid-Ohio, Portland, Iowa or Knoxville, and Montreal.

Explore: Baltimore/Washington, Pittsburgh, Denver, Seattle, Salt Lake City and Twin Cities.

Take a date from: Kansas City, Atlanta, Richmond, Phoenix,

Start the season in Los Angeles, and finish in either Miami, Charlotte, or Nashville.

Also, it makes no sense and there's nowhere to put it with Dover on the schedule, and I'm only saying this because it's one of my absolute favorite racetracks.

Add New Jersey Motorsports Park to Cup or Xfinity schedule.

Totally forgot IRP as the list of NXS/Truck standalone tracks.

IRP is a great track at leading the build up to the Indianapolis 500 & Brickyard 400.

Salt Lake City has Utah Motorsports Campus about 30 minutes away (forgot to list it as a possible standalone?).

I know everyone likes their 20% sightlines & TV monitors, but at many parts of the Utah track you can see a lot of the course, nice facilities as well.

I'm sure it's some horse track though.

They could apply the dirt mile concept like DuQuoin / Illinois and run it in NYC for sure, or do a street race around the Meadowlands maybe.

And wow, THAT is a part of Sonoma’s problem, lots of folks don’t like that weird deserty west coast dust. Lol.

I’m not a fan of Bristol in its current spot. I think it’s better before college football starting.
That's it. I live in Knoxville. Tennessee football is king here. Now that it appears the team is good again, you won't get many people from east Tennessee going to Bristol on a football day/night or even watching it on TV. This year's Bristol race is the same night as the Tennessee-Florida game and it's a 7:00. Granted, the game is in Gainesville. But most people will be tuned in to it. The Bristol night race needs to go back to the end of August where it used to be. Make that the final race before the playoffs start.

I wouldn’t mind seeing the Battle at Bristol become an SEC and/or ACC traditional game every year or other year for revenue purposes.

I don't know, but lets put Heartland Park back on the truck schedule! Admittedly, I don't really know much of anything about the track. I don't even think I was a racing fan when they ran there. I just know they ran there a few times and I'd appreciate having a road course as a daytrip option for myself.

I see they opened Ozarks International Raceway.

Heartland Park was a nice track back in the day for sure.

Yeah, it was pretty exciting when they started building that place. At that time, I was about 2 hours 15 minutes from there. Now it's about double that distance since I've came back to KS. Obviously not every race course is suitable for NASCAR or Indy car, so I don't know if that's even a thought or goal for that facility. Maybe too much elevation gain for that, but I don't know as I'm far from an expert.

They were planning on having a GT World Challenge America race, but it moved to NOLA. I’d have to see why.
