IndyCar 2013 Silly Season

Look for Daly to do some races in a Foyt 2nd car at Indy, and elsewhere that it doesn't conflict with his GP2 schedule. He's poised to follow Rossi into F1if he can find sponsorship.

Conor's a great Twitter follow, btw. He was posting about Morgan Shepherd and fire suits for pace car drivers during the Duels last night.

As far as single racing venues I'd say Indy, LeMans, Monico, and the Daytona 500 are the big ones (the Daytona 500 would probably only be on an American race fan list).

Yeah, those probably are the big four. You have to give the top one to Indy, it's the oldest and most prestigious in my mind. Part of Monaco's appeal is the history and glamorous setting, I don't think the racing there has ever been that good, unlike the other three. Although I'm sure you could find people who say that the racing at Indy, LeMans and Daytona is boring.

Jack Hawksworth to drive for Bryan Herta's team http://www.racer.com/index.php/indy...-hawksworth-lands-bryan-herta-autosport-drive
The driver signing comes as a surprise, since everyone considered it was either going to be Luca Filipi or JR Hildebrand. Hawksworth had 3 victories in the Indy Lights series last season, and had several impressive tests with different teams this off season.

Servia to only run 4 races For Rahal's team http://racing.ap.org/article/servia-run-least-4-races-2nd-rahal-car

I will post a full update soon

Does Hildebrand still not have a ride? I still feel bad for that kid after Indy and then all of last season.

Dale Coyne Racing (Car #2) – Ana Beatriz, Pippa Mann, Stefan Wilson, James Jakes, Vautier, Arie Luyendyk Jr., Francisco Dracone, Sam Bird, and Giuseppe Cipriani. Don't expect an announcement from this team until late in the off season, but they will put two cars on the grid. Arie Luyendyk Jr is test driving a Dale Coyne Indycar at Sebring. Vautier has also inquired about possibly driving for Coyne. Dracone crashed during his test at Sebring. Sam Bird is one of the drivers the team is seeking out the most according to Marshal Pruett. December 18-19 th test at Sebring had Jack Hawksworth and Giuseppe Cipriani testing their cars. Luiz Razia is talking with the team. Expect a driver announcement anytime.

Part Time

Barracuda Racing (Car #2) – Hildebrand, Jakes or Karam. Team planned to run 2 cars full time, unfortunately with sponsorship they will only have one full time team and the 2 nd team will run at Indy and possibly other races towards the end of the season.

Dreyer and Reinbold Racing (Car #1) - Team shut down after Indy last season leaving Servia out of a job. Update Robbie Buhl has said his team has sponsorship to run the Indy 500. They are also exploring options to race in a handful of other races in 2014.

Ganassi (Car #5) – Sage Karam or Alex Tagliani. Ganassi's 4 car full season team is set. Ganassi has said he would be open to a 5th car at Indy with Karam or Tagliani.

KV Racing (Car #3) – Upon Saavadera being confirmed by Jimmy Vasser he also said the team is close to securing a 3rd car for Indy.

Dragon Racing (Car #1) – Bourdais and Saavedra both left to KV. Jay Penske said he confirms the team will not run a full season and they only have the intention of running 1 car at the two races at Indy.

Foyt (Car #3) – A 3rd car is highly unlikely but not impossible. Conor Daly would be the most obvious choice if it happens.

Dale Coyne Racing (Car #3) – Pippa Mann. Coyne is open to running a third car if a driver can bring money.

Sarah Fisher/Hartman (Car #2) – In February Cutters Race Team announced they would field a car in conjunction with Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing.

Rahal Letterman (Car #3) – With 1 car confirmed full time and another part time, there is still speculation the team will run a 3rd car either full time or part time.

Ed Carpenter (Car #2) – Stefan Wilson, or Peter Dempsey. Team is looking for a driver/sponsor to only run the two races at Indy.

Lazier Brothers Racing (Car #2) – Jaques Lazier. Bob Lazier has said he is searching for a way to run a 2 nd car at Indy for Buddys brother Jaques Lazier

Fan Force United (Car #1?) – They announced they are looking to run a full season in Indy Lights and the Indy 500 in 2014. Scott Anderson was named the driver of there Indy Lights team. Still no word on running the Indy 500. Possibly in conjunction with another team to share resources. Word is the team may have sold there car to help the Lazier brothers.

More old guys. IndyCar needs new heroes.

In the meantime, I will cheer for Villeneuve, Montoya, Gordon and Tracy. :headbang:

Pretty much. I'll enjoy watching them, but until IndyCar can hang on to an open wheel guy that they can rally around and market, they're just going to get old farts (or old farts at heart like me) to tune in to see guys like Paul Tracy.

My question what the hell happened to Tristan Vautier?

Kid disappeared after some decent flashes last year...
