iOS7

Some pretty significant changes. I hope it's not harder to use... one advantage of the iPhone IMO is that it's much easier to use than it's Google counterpart. Also hope this update doesn't slow the older iPhone 4s down too much.

I plan on switching back when the new hits. I didn't like the iPhone 5. I switched to Android about a year ago and I liked it at first, but I want to go back to the IPhone. Way easier to use and much smoother operation.

Yeah, same here. I liked my Android phone at first but it just gets so bogged down. And the battery life was awful. I actually gave up 4G LTE to get an iPhone 4S just recently.

13+-+1

I'll tell you how much I hated Android after just a couple months. I gave up 4G LTE to go back to using an iPhone (I have the 4S now).

Meanwhile, I'm seeing more galaxy's than iPhones....the Notes (Like I have) just stand out...

Nobody I know except you has complained about a bogged down android.

Well, the last update killed mine, hasn't been the same since. I also have been getting a lot of memory errors which I've never experienced before. I like both Apple and Android, but from my experiences with both I think the IPhone is better all around. They both have good features though.

Task manager says I'm using 622MB of 720MB of RAM on my note. ATK says I have 81MB free. I'm running ICS and I rarely get lockups. And when it does lockup, I just open ATK and terminate whatever hangs. Not an inconvenience to me.

Yeah pretty sure when I buy a phone, I want it to work like a phone and not an old Windows XP computer where you have to use a task manager. iPhone FTW.

My goals aren't unrealistic. My iPhone works quite well.
Can you write on it using a supplied stylus? What about developing open source applications without having to file as a developer or pay money? Run GPS-based apps in the background?

The touchscreen on my iPhone is accurate enough that I don't need to use a stylus. I don't develop software. The only GPS app I use on my iPhone is the Maps app.

I didn't ask how accurate it is. I asked if you can write on it with a supplied stylus.

Some people do and that matters alot, particularly in computer science (75%+ of students that I've observed have androids)

So you've never tried to run google tracks in the background? Should try it sometime. Apple doesn't allow background tracking apps, android does.

I don't work in computer science. My iPhone works, for the most part, flawlessly. My Android phone was a crap phone with a crap operating system. I've never had a phone give me so many problems and I used to use a Blackberry way back when.

Then how do you know so many people want to switch from android to iphone, if you don't know what they use it for? If they NEED to be able to write on their phone, they're forced to buy the note. If they NEED GPS to run in the background, they have to use android. If they NEED to develop without paying fees for this that and the other, they have to use android. If they NEED to use bluetooth for anything other than voice or simple data transfers (IE, for console/terminal use), they have to use android.

Iphone doesn't have any features that android didn't already have. You don't HAVE to use an iphone, you use it out of convenience. for many people, android is the ONLY way.

I need a smartphone that works. For me, iPhone is the only way to go. LG phones are crap phones and Android is a terrible operating system. Like I said, I gave up 4G LTE to get an iPhone 4S. That speaks volumes to how much I loathe and detest Android.

I have an Amazon Kindle tablet (it's Android based but with all the negatives and none of the positives of an Android device) at home and I loathe and detest it as well.

Also, I'm not app crazy. I have a few apps that are necessary for my job, the CBS News app so I can listen to CBS News Radio in the car (only news on AM/FM radio here is FOX and that blowhard dimwit racist asshat moron Limbaugh) which is something that doesn't work on Android BTW, the CBS This Morning app (not available on Android), the WDBJ app and an LED light app.

Oh yeah, I also like being able to anwer the phone by tapping one button on the screen instead of having to swipe my finger oh and if you don't swipe your finger exactly one way on the horribly inaccurate Android touchscreen it hangs up instead of answering the phone.

i love iphone, i hate iphone, i love android, i hate android, i love iphone.....

Android is clearly the best for people with brains, and to celebrate this, I like-bombed all pro-Android posts in this thread.

Your problem with Android isn't even with Android. Android is an actual operating system developed by Google. Almost to the likes of Windows, Ubuntu, ect... The more google developes Android the closer it gets to a desktop OS in our pockets. iOS is a mobile operating system that honestly shouldn't be compared to android. Stock AOSP (android open source project) is an awesome operating system with little to no bugs. Honestly I don't notice any. It is smoother than iOS (project butter), and doesn't lock up. The android you have experience with is the one that is hacked and mangled by an OEM like LG, Samsung, and HTC. They take the Android OS and add there own little software and GUIs to it, to create their own experiences. Then you get the carriers who load these phones to the brim with their own bloat ware that also helps bog down the phones. This I do blame on Google because they allow the OEMs and carriers to do this. However, that is what is great and bad about Android at the same time. It is great because it is an open OS that allows you to make it your own, but bad because the OEMs and carriers take advantage of it.

If you want a true Android experience get a Nexus device or a Google Edition phone from the play store. These come with straight stock AOSP. No OEM GUIs, no carrier bloat ware. Just good pure android.
