Is it just me? Or is DW getting worse?

What annoys me is when they go to the cut away car and explain what a driveshaft or coil spring does.
yeah, for the people that don't know what that is, it would be good, but for us people who do, they should have miss winston or some babe of that caliber helping hammond out :)

Larry Mac: always uses this term...RPMS= revolutions per minutes...no such thing...it is revolutions per minute.....thus the term RPM ! Larry being an educated, former crew chief , should know better! Quite a few of the other anouncers in the sport also abuse this term to no end. A better term to use would be REVS, which would make more sense , just a pet peeve of mine....lol :D

Oh that's real fair to all us woman fans.
Why not just replace Hammond with one of the Chippendale dancers?

The coverage that FOX brings to us is so much superior to NBC or any other network in my 16 years of watching. If DW really bothers everyone, just remember we could go back to Ken Squire...........NOT!

I enjoy the whole FOX package........................I hate to switch gears midway through the season, but such is life.

My 2 cents

i like DW, but boogity boogity boogity needs to go, it was fun at first but now its annoying, and i think he is getting alittle to much exposure with those commercials

you actually think fox's coverage is better than what we got from ESPN ?

I watched the 1995 N. Wilksboro race the other night (taped off ESPN) Yea they had commericals but hell they showed the first 70 laps before they went to the first one. Jerry Punch was, is the best pit reported there ever has been.
I might have also been that the racing was much much better then.

de7xwcc you hit the proverbial nail on the head with your last sentence. Also, it's too bad that everyone is not perfect. RPMS really. Revs, is that a preacher. Now if I was someone that didn't know -----???????

I should also add that using the term RPMs is a term used in the SOUTH. I have heard and used it all of my racing life. EX: How many RPMs were you turning at the end of the front stretch? Simple HUH? That just be de ways we talks down here.

I'm with you DeeDee.......plus I too am tired of DW. His voice is becomming annoying!

B)

paul....Maybe you need to read all of the posts. Somebody remarked about the way Larry Mc. said RPMS. They said it was RPM no s. Well where I am from, and that is the SOUTH, we say rpms. Now if they say this elsewwhere so be it. Why would it be questioned otherwise??????????

I can't really say I have even heard someone refer to it as RPM with no "s". It is just like a baseball announcer refering to "RBI's". I suppose if you were anal enough to get worked up over such a thing you might point out that it should be RBI with no "s". Since it stands for RunS Batted In. And I am from the North. Not that I see where this is going ^_^

I don't even know how it got started. People fussing about DW and all of a sudden Larry Mc. didn't know what he was talking about. Childish to say the least. I'm outa here. :bounce:

Anyway, during WC qualifying as Steve Park was starting his lap he says, "All these DEI cars are set up great, so Park should have the same kind of results and Mikey and Dale." Then when Park q'ed 30th or whatever he says, "He was just fighting a bad car, you could see that from the start of his laps."

People don't listen to DW, they just think he's "funny" because he's always laughing.

He contradicts himself constantly, Boogity is not funny anymore, his nose is so far up DEI's behind it's awful, he searches for ways to say the same exact thing every race...always looks for a way to fit "get woah'ed up", "wad of cars" and other stupid little sayings every single Sunday at least 5 times.

Did ya hear him trying to say that Todd "wrecked" Jamie after the Busch race? Not out right saying it, but implying it like, "Turned that car right into his bumper and spun him out into the fence and got the win".

Nothing DW said would suprise me There has got to be someone out there who could do better...........

I know ME and i would do it for a whole lot less $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$4

I will tell you this, I would rather have a has been trying to explain to me the meaning of loose and tight instead of a wannabe like Dallenbach, that can't keep a ride, trying to tell me how to drive a race car.

Boy how things get blown out of proportion. DW said, and I quote, "Todd had no other choice as his car slipped and he had to turn to correct it". Now I say, I have sat where Todd sat. I have sat where Jamie sat. It was a racing accident, and no one, not even Jamie, implied anything differently. Unless you have been there don't be so quick to judge, 'Nuff said. I guess that I'll just get it "woah'ed up" and say that this Ford guy agrees with you "Bowtie". Now I guess I'll meander off to bed. Night, night ya'll.

This is a no win situation with you folks. Oh well, I've got more important things to do anyway. Knock yourselves out.

Where is Darrell?

I just realized I have not seen Darrell on TV lately... I wonder if Rusty Wallace has taken his spot as an announcer.. :lurk:

Well on track side DW was on a date with Chris Meyers. I think they were at some kind of Game last night, But Rusty did make a comment that he was liking what he was doing. And He was not going to race next year.

DW has always stayed away from the track when NBC takes over. Even with the Speed Channel programming. Its been no different then years past.

He's nowhere near as bad as Benny Parsons, Benny was making random sounds from his mouth during Indy. "look at that lasudofiashfaishiauh!!?!"

They don't call him Jaws for nothing. :D
You know where that name came from? Cale Yarborough gave it to him.

I don't mind DW. Talks too much and nonsense some of the time, but he also has proven that he can drive. Unlike some of his TV colleagues.
