Is Kyle Busch Ruining NASCAR?

Can we stop throwing shade at this?

Kyle has won a championship, yes we talk about the Chase or anything else. At the end of the day he WON at Homestead and hoisted that trophy high.

I love Mark, but sadly he never got to do that. Did anyone complain when he dominated in that #60 for years? No disrespect to Mark because he is one of the greatest to do it, ever. The gentlemen driver of NASCAR, our Stirling Moss of NASCAR. Never won the big trophy, but was incredible and Mark's longevity to be competitive for over 30 years was amazing to see. I wanted him to win it in 2009 so bad...

Kyle was hot at this same time of year last year, don't be surprised if he repeats. We need to stop hating and give him credit. His personality is not the best, he can be a sour puss, etc. I get it, but he earned that throphy because he played the game right and beat everyone else...

I was a huge hater, but I give Kyle all of the credit in the world because he deserves it. I can't hate anymore, he's done it all. He's right there with Jimmie of the greatest driver of the past decade.

Guess what, we are going to see a lot more of this. Kyle is only 31, so I guess we are going to be crying for a long time coming.

LOL

I appreciate your opinion, however wrong it may be.

For me the problem is two fold. The chase was a joke from the start but they changes they have made have made it even worse. Two so many of the drivers are just young kids that nobody would even want to hang out with in real life. Kids put in rides because sponsors or owners think that they are going to attract the young viewer (totally false). Honestly everytime I watch a race the winner is just another guy I wouldent even talk to in real life. Other than drivers like maybe Truex, Dale jr, Ryan newman idk that is all off the top of my head every driver is a young punk that is just annoying. Even older guys like biffle kenseth, denny hamlin and Carl Edwards have zero real life traits of someone you would actually see out in the world.

I think NASCAR truly needs to change how it's trying to brand itself right now back to its southern roots if you really wanna fix the sport.

It tries so hard to be mainstream, yet country music in this country is bigger than it's ever been and the number one reality show is Duck Dynasty. The sport needs a little redneck in again honestly

Agree and disagree at the same time. Agree that NASCAR needs personality and to bring back some of the southern roots would be welcome. On the other hand, many people outside of the south believe that the southern accent is for slow stupid people. It is an image problem NASCAR has that they can't seem to shake. We all know there is nothing wrong with any accent, but unfortunately our society deems otherwise.

The real question is, why isn't it the other way around? Why aren't southern accents deemed to be eligant and sophisticated, while northern accents are deemed slow and stupid? Who made that call? (Ok that's one for the philosophy class! haha, i.e. what if up were down and down were up? or how come north is always toward the top of a page on a map?)

If NASCAR didn't overcome it's southern roots during the boom times, 1990~2008, they surely aren't going to do it now. Even at the height of it's popularity, NASCAR never shook this image. I never met people in college or grad school who thought NASCAR was 'cool,' and I went to school in the south. It was always viewed as redneck. The path forward, if BF had any brain whatsoever, would be to re-southernize the sport and embrace the 'redneck' side. Stop trying to ban rebel flags. Promote drivers with southern accents who can give off the smallest iota of resemblance to the cowboy stars that made the sport popular.

Lemme tell ya sumthin. I love the southern accent and go weak in the knees when I hear belles bantering as it music to my ears. I'm fixin to head south for a while in the fall and can't wait.

I didn't read the whole thread yet but I'm sure attendance was low because going to indy sucks. You can't see the whole track from the seats, the racing isn't that good and it's hot as hell. I went to one indy 500 to cross it off my racing bucket list and I'd never go again. The view from the couch in air conditioning is way better.

Clint Bowyer tweeted a thankyou to fans for braving the heat .

No he is not. NASCAR has much bigger problems than a talented driver and / or his team 's manufacture.

I wouldn't say that Kyle Busch is ruining NASCAR. I mean, I have no problem with him winning at the Sprint Cup level. However, I do think that Kyle Busch and other Cuppers are slowly snuffing the life out of the Xfinity Series. The only reason that the Camping World Truck Series is still hanging on is that NASCAR uses that series as a test bed of sorts, so the changes to it makes it interesting despite the Cuppers.
