Is Nascar Doomed?

The Main Problem I have with Nascar is that They Continue to Rig the Restrictor Plate Races !!
You can't make a statement like that without explaining yourself...so go ahead...let's hear it.

I thought that Everyone knew that the DEI cars are given bigger bored restrictor plates so that They can win almost every plate race  j/k :D

rp racing is a joke, but to say the races are rigged is rediculous.

I see nothing wrong with Restrictor Plate racing, if we did take off the plates, cars would fly into the grandstands. Plus I think Restrictors Plate racing is alot better than Martinsville or Bristol where someone could take the lead and lead the next 500 laps and my attention span is shot by the first caution.

That's sad, very sad Happy. Short track racing is much more exciting to me and many others.

I'm tired of watching those 4 races! Its crazy >> They need to stop doing that crap!
Don't watch. That will solve it.

i believe nascar has made it this long they can double it. Nascar is probably the most popular sport, the fans keep coming, the races will be great, the racing competition keeps get closer, its season is long. Nascar is only getting better and with Nextel coming in i believe it will do better. New young guns come in and are doing great, the veterans are still competitive. In my view everything is going great. And im getting excited and anxious for the new Nextel cup to get started.

we can only hope so. but i think our days are numbered. just look at what has happened in the past few years.

we have lost one race at the rock and i fear the spring 2004 race will be the last. you know realinement for the good of the sport. i feel nastycar could care less about the fans, just look at this 26-10 thing yea there a few who speak in support of it, but the polls i've seen show anywhere from 70 to 90% of the fans are against it. does anyone here think that is going to keep them from doin it ? i think not the younger and richer fans (cough, cough) are what they are looking for. you can bet if they thought they would make more $$ they would run 6 plate races

gettin off my soap box now

Agreed Kat.

My personal fave tracks are the road courses, but short tracks are right behind them in My book.

Need far less cookie-cutter tracks and I wouldn't miss plate racing at all if Daytona and Talladega were done away with,JMHO ;)

I LOVE road courses...they are my favorite! Short tracks next fave.

Altho I'm not all that fond of cookies and plate races, at lease it's Nascar racing!

Nascar could in fact be doomed, yes.

Blame moving races from The Carolina's to California.
97...

I think moving the races is a great idea, especially since I don't live in east anymore. I moved from SW VA to Colorado. Believe me, North Carolina/Virginia host way too many races...

The closest Nextel track is a 9 hour drive for me (Kansas City). I could make it to about 15 tracks from Roanoke in that time....

As for the fortold end of NASCAR.....

I don't think NASCAR is doomed....it's just going to change. Heck, it alread has a lot in the last 15 years!

NASCAR has to adapt or it WILL be doomed...I doubt it would be as big as it is today if it were really "STOCK" cars racing... A Monte Carlo doing 120 tops isn't going to hold MY attention.

Also, for me, the major draw of NASCAR is the action at the Races, not the rules....

Bring on DAYTONA! I'm getting ansie for "Gentlemen.....Start your engines!"

I think you really want to hear "Boogity Boogity Boogity"

I dont need to see it in anyones way, I have my own way of seeing things, and frankly, I'd much rather see a 43-car race for the lead with lead changes almost every lap then a 500 lap snoozer with people wrecking every ten laps. Frankly, I hope tracks like Martinsville are replaced by more exciting tracks, and soon hopefully.

I hear ya on the wrecks! Sometimes it feels like a 5 lap run is really 'spreading out the field'.

But I'm really torn since I like the bumping and close racing on the short tracks...

I think this is where the softer tires/spoiler arguement creeps in!

Splunge:

Take in an IRL Race or an AMA Superbike Race at Pikes Peak Raceway >> In Fountain CO >> Just South of Colorado Springs on 25. Good Racing and a Beautiful Track! Maybe Nextel Cup will one day have a Race There!

AMA Pro Superbike Racing puts on a Great Show >> I was Very Impressed!
