Is spelling and grammar important?

I'm no where near perfect.......and probably only reasonably competent. But I believe some effort should be put into trying to spell and put sentences together in some fashion as to be somewhat understood by others trying to read what is posted. I also think it reflects upon the poster's intelligence when they make no effort what so ever to do so. I'm not talking about typos and word omissions.......even improper punctuation. It sure hurts your case if you trying to argue a point in an intelligent way and you can't seem to spell a key word in your argument.
 
LOL DE you shouldn't argue if you have to resort to personal things to get your point across.
 
i think everybody should do their best. there are some, like my mom, who have difficulties and have never been taught how to overcome them(dyslexia) so i have some understanding, but plain old laziness should not be tolerated.

I am assumeing DE is talking about the few words I have mispelled during our last few days of arguements. I have been wrong before though.
 
I thought it was just a general question. dont take everything so personally man:)
 
All I can say is "if the shoe fits...........". But, actually you were not necessarily the subject of my post. Take it personal if you like...........wasn't soley directed at you, though.
 
Judas I dont take everything (so) personally its just right before he made this thread he was correcting a typo I made on another thread.
 
Spelling was not one of my strong subjects. But I try to make the best effort to get things spelled right. But my son is a 3rd year collage student and can't spell at all. He was found to have a learning disadility in spelling. in about the 3rd grade. It is hard for him to spell anything right. But that dosen't mean he is stupid.( And don't take it that I am saying you are calling people stupid.) Maybe paul could find a way to put a spell check on the boards.

maybe it was aggrevating enough that he would ask everyone if they accept this lower standard now(especially from college students) or is this not normal?

No, I believe the correct spelling is "ya'll". That's how all us people from down yonder spell it...

I ain't drinkin' tonight! Had a Fosters Sunday afternoon for the first beer I've had in a long time. Tasted reeeaaalll good I must add and I'm not what you call a big Fosters fan.
 
Well one Fosters equals a 12 pack of light beer.:D I get more gas than drunk,which is good I guess.:D
 
I didn't have one of the big cans of Fosters, but a 12 ounce bottle of the stuff. Now I would prefer a nice pint of Guiness.
