It's 500 time!

So you're saying he made a rookie mistake? I remember people getting all upset when other rookies made similar moves. But I suppose Lil'E gets a pass because he's the most popular driver.

Oh, and remind me what Vickers did wrong. As Mikey says the guy who runs over someone is at fault because he had the choice of hitting the driver in front, braking or moving over.
They were heading for 3. junior didnt want to fall behind..just wanted to get in line. I think he just misjudged..he wasn't that far off from being clear.

Boo hoo, he missed his pit because he chose pink for his pit sign and everyone copied him. Pink? Isn't your CC and/or spotter supposed to help you find your pits.

Boo hoo, he got a lap down because Nascar's penalties are unfair for only being a few inches out of the box and the rule needs to be changed.

Boo hoo, Vickers forced both of them to the grass and he almost lost control of his car. Grass? Neither car even touched the grass.

And DW tries to make excuses for him even tho they were racing for the lucky dog. DW says he was frustrated.

Grow a pair and say you screwed the pooch...

If I'm to give Junyer the benefit of doubt, he made a rookie mistake at best.

I don't normally agree with you, but you're 100% dead-on here.

I think you're right. (granted, I am a Jr. fan.) But Jr. is a lightning rod. There are so many Jr. haters that if he sneezes, he'd get criticized to spreading a virus.

As I see it, he went down to pass Vickers on the inside, and as Vickers forces him below the double yellow, Jr. didn't want to get penalized another lap for going below the yellow. At 200 MPH, there's not much margin for error. I'm going to roll back the DVR and listen to it again and again. I wonder if Jr's spotter, TJ, told him that Vickers was the Lucky Dog and would protect that position.

He wasn't "a few inches out of the box" His right front tire was on the line.

Now IIRC the rules say the only tire that can be outside the box is the right rear. You can't go over the line with the RF or valance, now called a splitter.

On the line is very different from over the line IMHO.

Please discuss and oh yes please remain civil,,,,,;)

:p

A lot of drivers that deserved a chance to do better were cheated by rough driving and the wather. This won't go down in the books as one of the great 500's.

From what I understand, on the line is outside the box, with the exception of the right rear tire.

On the line is out of bounds in every sport.

Junyer can't take any responsibility for his eff ups.

OK, Junior messed up by sliding into the pit and stopping on the line. But the official was right there telling the team to stop and move the car.

Why did the TEAM heed the official?

Re-listening to vickers claim that jr took him out intentionally, I can still see vickers similar move at talladega that took out both his teammate and jr. These guys sure do forget their screwups when they're on the receiving end.

not a memorable daytona 500. jr and crew seemed they couldn't do much right today. he was pushing it and screwed up hitting vickers.

great day for faux petty :)

It was a pretty good race. Jr. and crew did everything they could do to try and lose IMO. It would have been nice to see what would have happened without the rain, but at least they got the race in.
How about those Dodges ? Good for Almendinger and the whole Petty team.
I'm not sure why Montoya pitted early for 2 tires, but he was running 3rd until then, and never got back up front again. ( not sure why, but I always root for JPM )
It's good to have NASCAR back again, and they put on a good show as always.
