It's Time To Use...MATH!

Jimmie's got it...his name is already on the championship trophy.....
The Matt Kenseth 2013 Sprint Cup Champion t-shirts may already be on their way to South America, I'm afraid. As long as Harvick doesn't somehow win the championship, I'm good.

Here's some math for ya... Montoya - 1 job + a nice bribe = JJ in the fence :p No but seriously.. Im pretty much only watching to see who wins the race. The cup is a wrap.

true, but who is to say if there was never a chase he and Chad would have done things the same?

Well what else can you do? Go super human speed? lol

I dont know why this point gets brought up all the time. All you can do is race and gain as much points as possible. There is little science behind that formula.

Wrecks/mechanical issues are going to happen so you cant do anything about that. Clearly it is much harder to maintain a points lead 36 weeks than it is 10.

It's no different in NASCAR than it is in football or baseball. By the time it's certain you'll be in the Chase, some drivers hold back and start preparing for the Chase or try experimental things for the Chase.

Andy said something smart for once haha, but no really what he said is true here some people do what they have to do to get in the chase, and then they start to prepare there stuff, I honestly feel Tony did something like this in 2011 but for a different reason. I think he did what he could to just make the chase, saved the best stuff for the final 10 races, and then went on to win 5 of the 10 of them.

I think the first four chase races you could go by the new and old points comparison but after that they were testing too much during the races late in the season.

I'm a believer that they do what they can do to win each and every Sunday. Today more than ever. Especially with the bonus points awarded for the wins leading into the Chase seeding. Think a point or two doesn't matter? Ask Carl.

Today either these teams are testing at tracks weekdays or the car/engine combinations are being put through their simulated races at the shop, never having to hit the track. They know what they're unloading off of the hauler when they get there and their backup is just as good.

I agree. I've never believed some drivers lay back just trying to make the Chase, then start racing as hard as they can once the Chase starts. A racer is going to try to get the best finish he possibly can in any given race, period.

To say JJ may have won more championships under the pre-Chase point system in recent years because he would have raced differently is a real stretch.

But, they didn't start getting awarded extra chase points for wins until like 2 or 3 years ago, if i remember correctly. The main goal was to get in the chase, not to win the race.

Y'all might as well come to peace with Jimmie winning his sixth. While at it, y'all might as well come to peace with seven and eight as well.
I can't see him getting eight, time takes it's toll on everyone, and the young take over.

Johnson would have 3 championships (counting this year) under the old points system.

I'm not so sure about that. Might want to look up 2008. Johnson finished 15th and Carl won that race, a spread of 72 points. Had there not been a Chase and that been the result, Carl would've won by 16 points. But Jimmie finished 15th in that race because he already had the championship locked up - all he had to do was ride around and bring the car home in one piece.

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry Christmas.

I'm still bitter about 2010 but Jimmie's about to win his sixth championship. Wishing the old points system was in place doesn't change that because it's not and he's still won five championships.

Been in the Captain Morgans again huh Andy.

It's a good thing the 4 team limit is in place, otherwise Hendrick would have 20 start & parks out there this weekend.

They have about 10 cars they can probably start and park if they wanted. Would look mighty suspicious but they are out there.

Hendrick and roush ruin nascar. They made it money business.

Are we talking about nascar or prostitution here? haha just kidding

Every team is in it for the money. If a team isn't profitable it doesn't make it. The same holds true for...everything nowadays.
I wasn't talking about making money, but the cost to go racing.

For those saying Jimmie is a failure, remember this -- the first step is to admit you have a jimmie hating problem ;)
