What are "points" and how do you earn them?

If you're talking about personal points that you earn in the forum then it works this way.

You have 783 points. After you've been here 5 years you'll get another 100 points and after 10 years another 150 points. Until then you've earned all you can.

Personally, I think the year should be broken down into three separate parts, segments if you will. At the end of each segment, the top poster could be awarded segment points. At the end of the year, say during the last 10 weeks, all of the points should be wiped out. Then, take the top, say, 16 posters of the year and award them their accumulated segment points earned throughout the season, err, year. Then we break up those last 10 weeks into four separate..... Wait a second..... Never mind, I'm in the wrong forum!
