heheh yeah but the poor bastard gets passed in the first lap, he never lead a lap when starting from the pole..

I knew my boy would do it..........he's gonna win the race sunday too :beerbang: :beerbang: :beerbang: :D

Boris Said is the top hired gun (ringer) in 4th!!! :) :beerbang: If Jr can't win it from 10th, then he's the one I'm pulling for! :beerbang:

I can understand an owner putting in a ringer hoping to get a win for his sponser. I don't like the fact that regular drivers must sit out on these occasions, but fair is fair.
What I cannot understand is any NASCAR fan that would root for one of the ringers to win over all the regulars.

Boris Said is driving the 136 car (only 36 is on the car itself).......that is not taking a regular's spot away. Chip Ganassi, bless his heart, did not pull a driver from the race to put a ringer in.........he fielded another car. Ganassi has 4 cars in the race Sunday instead of his usual 3. Said may have caused a regular to be on the going home list with his 4th place qualifying effort.........but Boris did qualified. And some regular did not. And me, being as anti-Ganassi as anyone could be, I will say "good for Chip for not taking a regular out of a car to put a ringer in". :beerbang:

And I root for any driver I happen to like!! :D

Looks like the only regular that got replaced for a "ringer" is Bobby Hamilton Jr.

What happened to Greg Biffle, 41st?

And Jason Leffler..........Terry Labonte took his spot in the 11. Not sure if Terry qualifies as a ringer, but he isn't a regular on the circuit this season.

Gregg took a small trek across some dirt and got behind on his steering!! :) He saved it though..............didn't have to go to a back car!! :beerbang:

I agree with Betsy. I only root only for regulars. (Ditto for the Busch series.) If these fill-ins are so good, they should be in a full time ride.

Leffler's a joke, JJ Yeley (I think that's spelled right, drives the Gibbs 18 Busch car) should be in the 11 car. I'm so glad Terry's in there this weekend. I'll be pulling for him.

If the regulars were good enough, you wouldn't have to worry about the ringers....
That's fine. You sign up to run for points the whole season. Some tracks you're good at, some you're bad at.
What's next? Hire oval experts? Short track experts? Concrete experts? How about hot weather experts? Night racing experts?

If you're a full time driver in a series, you drive where the races are held.

I dunno, I gotta agree with Fergy though.

The owners are owners, because well, they own the cars. :) They can choose who they want behind the wheel. If the everyday wheel-man was good enough, he'd be starting this weekend.

Jimmie's starting.
Gordon's starting.
Busch is starting.
Junior's starting.

The vast majority of the series' best drivers are starting because they're the series' best drivers. :)

It's really only Hamilton Jr, and Leffler, right? I mean can you really see Kerry Earnhardt driving at Sonoma? :) That Simo kid who qualified is probably better overall anyway.

Hamilton Jr shows promise, but Leffler sucks. I'd rather see Terry racing anyhow.

ok how are the regulars going to learn how to race the track if they dont race on them? by putting "ringers" as you put it? no, i think leffler and company should've race the track..

Test there. That's how they learn. if they were concerned, they'd put pressure on the team to go there. That's the point. If these drivers were thought of enough as 'being the future' of these teams they'd invest the time and money to go test there.

Hell, isn't the rule they can test as much as they want anywhere they want if they can book the time (in the off-season)? I'm not sure, but if so, if Gibbs really though Leffler was as good as a young Stewart or Labonte, he'd be driving this weekend. The 11 for Leffler is a job, not a career, like Bobby or Tony. Isn't Leffler the same moron that almost wrecked Junior and Stewart in the Busch race at Daytona last July? I just cannot understand why Yeley is toiling away in the Busch series in 13th place while Leffler can't even stay in the top 35 so the car can be in the race weekly.

First I heard that he lost his ride ..... where is that posted at ???

A few of the Nascar Drivers don't drive the road courses because they are not that good at them. So the teams/owners choose to put in Drivers who have experience on road courses.

Owners should choose drivers who are able to drive their cars on all tracks. No selective scheduling. If driver A can only drive road courses but not ovals, don't hire him or her, or teach them how to do it. If he or she can only drive when the sun shines, but not under lights, and you don't want to teach them, don't hire them. It's not an impossible task to be able to handle all venues. We have lots of examples of that, don't we? And generally it's safe to say that drivers who get replaced for road courses are not necessarily front runners on ovals either, are they?

If an owner wants to put an outsider into a car for selective races, fine. But give them another car, and don't make a regular sit it out. And, don't expect me to cheer for them. I have enough favorites among regular drivers, and can't handle any more. :)

Good point there but I guess it's all about points/money.

Good question ..... do they recieve points earned when another Driver subs for a team ??? I'm a girlie here, don't know all the rules.

The team, meaning the owner gets the points- not the driver. Like if Jimmie had to have someone sub for him, his team (Hendrick) would get whatever points the car earned, but Jimmie would plummet in the points standings.

Like when Junior had to take a race off last season, that's why they waited until after the race started to put his replacement in, he had to start the race for the points earned in that car to count for him.

Ya Jeff got the pole, had the best time in 1st and 2nd practices, but Tony Stewart had the best time during Happy Hour, even though that doesnt mean much... lol

Yeley toiling away in Busch? I doubt it. That kid is in a primo car by a primo team with primo drivers around to show him how to drive...and he can only pull out 13th? If he could keep a car in one piece long enough, he might be a good driver, but I'd say he'd do just as well as Leffler in that 11 car...that ride is a joke.
