Not sure why you folks would want him to "give it up".

no he is not a legend.

why spend his money to race Nascar when he never makes a race, go to the Busch Series or the truck series where he has a better chance of doing what he loves, and thats racing.

If you ain't making races you ain't making money. so he doesn't have much to give to charaties.

When is the last time he actually made a race.
 
There'got to be a reason why Morgan and Derrick keeps trying. Maybe for the fun of it. Who knows.

Some people live in the past and others think the past hasn't caught up with them yet !!!!

Perhaps Morgan is living in past glories and as for Derrick, the referee counted ten a long before Father Time took his due. Possibly the thrill of being a part of the NASCAR Winston Cup Series and the chance of making the field is all they are looking for. It could be argued age be damned, these guys are no different than the ones who are younger and still try to make the field always finishing in the rear on a regular basis, so why not make the effort???

There is another less kind way of addressing the question too. It is like the older man who dyes the grey out of his hair (see Darrell Waltrip) or the older women who wear spandex pants like they were twenty years old again. The fact is, the mind sez yes but in reality, it ain't gonna happen. Some of this opinion is personal experience and some is understanding reality. :rolleyes:
 
I predicted it would be Newman or JimmyJam! ROTFL

As for Morgan and Derrick --- it's very, very hard to give up something that you love to do.

Whizzer, I'm with you --- the mind says "yes", the body says "no". *sigh*
