JJ Dehydrated? WTF?

So I think it very odd that JJ would suffer from dehydration given his obvious physical condition. Now, If CO poisoning was involved, I contend that the 48 should suffer a penalty in the name of driver safety similar to that of Denny Hamlin and the unsealed firewall seam deal. I mean this is all about driver safety isn't it?

All he said was IF co poisoning was involved he should get same penalty as DH for. I don't know how that in is favor of anything except safety.

but yes @Revman it is odd that of all drivers JJ is the one to suffer from dehydration. I don't know what to think of it.

Didn't somebody post somewhere that he thought his helmet fan may have malfunctioned?

Then standing outside the car I kind of got dizzy so I wanted to sit down. Once I sat down the cramping got worse so then I wanted to stand up. I got up and off the ground two or three times and that whole process got me really dizzy. I know what he said . My point is there are a lot of way's to get CO poisoning, especially at a short track, some of which aren't illegal. I would expect that they took a blood sample in the infield care center to confirm or rule out CO poisoning. If they didn't they should have.

turns out he put on Kasey's undies by mistake and the cramps and dizzy spells were caused by testusconfinus.
 
I've suffered through a bout of heat exhaustion and dehydration -- and it's sneaky. You don't really feel it until
you just collapse. IMO, Jimmie either didn't hydrate as well before hand as he thought he did, or he didn't take in enough fluid
during the race.

I have a new theory, maybe last's night race was so boring that when Johnson got out of his car, he just fell asleep. This whole dehydration story is just a cover up because if a race causes Mr. Six Pack to fall asleep, then things are more terrible than we realize.

That's the way it worked for me too, had to take several IV's too. Never saw it coming and then I almost passed out.
 
He mentioned in the interview that he thought his helmet fan might not be working. i noticed after the race all the drivers interviewed looked hot and sweaty.

I noticed that too... everyone look worn out, Biffle in particular, looked and sounded completely wrung out.

One of the cars at the Atlanta race had a thermometer strapped to the cage, next to the driver... if I recall correctly, it was registering 150+ degrees! Given the conditions in Richmond were even hotter, I'm surprised more of the drivers didn't collapse.

As for Johnson not keeping himself hydrated during the race, as others have said, dehydration is very sneaky... a lack of thirst is NOT an indicator that there is no problem, it's just that the individual doesn't realize it until too late.
 
It used to be more prevalent for drivers to need IV's after a race. I think the helmet cooling and more concentrated fitness has helped.
I remember Petty needing oxygen after some races, and I mean when he was still winning, not the later years. I can remember the MRN broadcast informing folks that Richard Petty would be given his Victory Lane interview after getting the oxygen.

Actually, I'm serious. Ignore Johali. There should be CO monitors in the cars. I can give on a lot of things, but I want all competitors safe.

You might contend, but you are so ate up with Yotas, you confused a life and death health problem with out and out cheating. Get a grip, people die from what happened to Jimmy. And quit lying will ya, called you out once today for it, there aren't any Toyota chase spec engines and it wasn't a firewall seam.

Having CO monitors in the cars would be ridiculous. Do you realize that the cars have no side windows so CO will get in no matter what?
 
I read that Johnson needed 6 liters of IV fluids after the race. Is that normal? 6 liters sounds like a lot.

What utter nonsense has been thrown around in this thread.
We have been told, officially, that Jimmie was dehydrated and received fluids in the care center. PERIOD.

There is absolutely no reason to go off on each other over something that NONE of us witnessed live and in person.

It's like "am so" and "are not" on the playground. Get over it.
Until it is proven otherwise, I'm going to take the official explanation and live with it. The end.

I just don't understand some of you. You are capable of carrying on great discussions, and go to pieces over something that doesn't rate more than an "oh, by the way, this happened after the race."

Definitely not normal, but that is why he needed them.
I doubt JJ will release any more details and that he will minimize the episode.

From my experience they keep the iv's going as long as you need them. Or blood pressure returns to normal, mine got real low 90/60, and normal urine flow resumes.
I was tired for the rest of the day, or really flat.
That may not be typical just the way it worked for me.

JJ is a triathlete in better shape, and most likely will be 100% recovered by the time he gets to Chicago.

Note: I have zero medical training, and can't remember the last time I slept at the holiday Inn.
