Joe Gibbs impressed with Kyle Buschs maturity after the Glenn. How about you?

On a 10 scale I would give him a 7 for the year. If he maintains until Homestead I would say a 9.

IMO, he's already one of the greatest drivers of all time. Remember, Mark Martin used to be a belligerant drunk, as a youngster. Youngsters do stupid things but nobody can dispute Kyle's driving ability. I'm glad he is maturing.

At 27, I'd say he's running out of time to use the youngster excuse and I don't know if he's a drunk or not but I still expect a meltown before the end of the year. That's just using his history as a guide - which is also something nobody can dispute :D

I love the fact that there are still some wild things in the sport. The day that they are all Jimmy Johnsons , I am gone.

There's no doubt that Kyle Busch brings some excitement to Nascar and a desperate KyBu is unpredictable so we can expect some action this weekend and definitely next.

In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if it comes down to him or Villeneuve for story of the weekend.

For 3 years running, I watched the 'New Kyle' media tour kick off a new year of racing, only to see him have his typical midsummer meltdown. Last year, the new Kyle was largly intact until race #35. Maybe he'll make it this year, maybe not, but he has been fine IMO. That little fist pump was a fitting reaction to the media dickheads acting like jackasses with nothing else to write home about after one of the most exciting race finishes in years. How pathetic is it for so-called reporters to run around chasing the 7th place finisher trying to provoke a reaction they could later criticize?

I don't agree with Joe Gibbs on that thought. I think a sign of maturity would have been to stand and face the cameras and reporters and make some sort of intelligent comment like his fellow competitors. Walking away from the situation? Yeah, I've seen that before. Sure, someone can say if you don't have anything good to say, say nothing at all. I just don't agree with that thought. When my driver has a bad day he talks to the media, he doesn't walk away. If he did, I'd be pissed at him as his fan. I want to hear what he has to say.

Getting the reaction of him being dumped is their job. You're really not saying that they should leave him alone, are you? You may not have cared what he had to say but I would have liked to have heard it.

I guess that's where we see it differently. I have no interest in seeing Kyle spew a bunch of whining nonsense. I quit being a fan of his several years ago largely for that reason. I just don't need tabloid entertainment after a race like that.

Sure, go and ask, but the media should show a little maturity themselves and accept his refusal to not make a statement. Watching Pockrass continue to jam a mic in his face while running alongside him was pure non-sense. Next year I'll expect more from Kyle, but some in the media will always ignore the racing and chase sideshow drama.

He is 27 years old, not a kid anymore but that is a moot point because he is the same jerk he has been his entire life. I think someone put a shock collar in his jeans to be able to quiet him down some.

It is the same with his brother. they know he is a hot head so they push a little harder. asking for a comment after the incident, and piling on request after request expecting a blow up are two different things.

Why do the Busch brothers deserve different treatment than anyone else? Because they have the potential to make an ass out of themselves should it be the media's obligation to leave them alone after an incident. If either of those guys can't handle it then maybe they ought to find a new line of work. The same questions can/have be/been asked of other drivers and they've taken the time to respond. At the very least these two should learn how to handle the media like Tony Stewart. He could probably teach them a lot.

I don't think a man owes an answer after he smashes his finger with a hammer. His full of BS neighbor might be able to reflect and call it a great learning opportunity, or may testify at church and praise God for the joyful experience. But that doesn't obligate me to seeing it as anything other than a pain, maybe even a days lost work.

I relate this to Kyle because immediately after getting out of the car, the pain was fresh, and it sucked. He went from being the last wild card seed with a win to spare over the closet competitor to being put of the chase. Gordon has had bad luck the whole world knows it. But Kyle has battled reliability that is beyond his control as well. He will never have Gordons post race composure, but I don't think that's required.

All he has to do is control himself, avoid trying a kill Hornaday repeat and get over it alone. He will not be the first, Dale Sr told Jerry Punch to 'get the damn microphone out my face' after spinning into the wall at Bristol. After Darrell Waltrip punted him and Terry Labonte out of the way on lap 499 turn 3 Martinsville he talked to Punch like he was a dummy with something like why are you asking what happened, you saw it with your own two eyes, and I agree no questions, were needed.

Dale was also a master of jumping in a plane white get away van in uniform, get a way driver equipped to get out of Dodge even when finishing second.
AJ Foyt would also intimidate reporters.

All Kyle has to do is not go ballistic with the media, he doesn't have to be a Napa head clown like Micheal Waltrip or sound like a Stefford wife wanting to service Brian France, Helton and Darby.

I will agree Kyle could help himself more, but with his people skills no comment will often be for the best, and that doesn't hurt MMs imo.

My biggest question with Kyle is the Hornaday moments. That's a gut feel instantaneous moment, we're the discipline has to be maintained in real time. No coach or Samantha can help him in those few few seconds.

That's the unknown test, and why I only rate him a 7, but I have no problem with telling the media no comment. I think the top three have to do the post race press conference, but even then a no comment is fine, as long as it isn't personally insulting the press.

I couldn't stand the kid when he started because of the stupid things he said on TV. But his driving has won me over. I like his defiant bow to booing fans when he would win (have you noticed fewer boos these days?). He is getting better as he matures. Tony Stewart used to say some dumb things and I noticed he has started to decline an interview when he is pissed off. I think Kyle is starting to do that too. I can understand why a driver might say something stupid in the heat of the moment when someone sticks a mic in his face and asks an annoying question.

It's feels a little odd defending Kyle, but I call it like I see it no matter who is involved. He had no obligation to speak to the media, and he didn't want to, so they chase and harass him like a bunch of Paparazzi sensationalists.

x2

Man, the next 20 years is really gonna drag for all you Kyle haters.........just too much talent to be denied.

If they urine tested you for being a class "A" jerk he would have been kicked out of all racing years ago, Just my humble opinion.
I dont see how testing me would get him kicked out......

...and what exactly does that have to do with talent?

lol Same thought.

For some, just driving talent isn't enough to always look the other way.

A play on words, but thats what I expect, no content just semantics.
