Johali's Rate the Cup race --- Bristol

10, if we can't have old pre-2007 Bristol back that's what it needs to be.

From what I saw 8.5

Deducting a point because I knew rooting for a Wood Brothers car would piss me off more than the Jacksonville Jaguars.

9.5
The last 100 laps had all kinds of suspense. I would have really liked to have seen how it would have sorted out without the last caution.

The conditions were unforgiving, and short pitting was a good option in the last 100 laps. There was lots of passing, closing speeds, and different strategies, the kind of stuff I want to see in a race.

Other than the cheesecloth tires I really liked the race. I was doing everything I could from my chair to get Hocevar the win!

The Aggies coming into South Bend & beating the Irish = a gazillion gazzillion!!!

9 but they need to have less fires. Tire wear = great. Having cars fill with toxic smoke = not great.

Still very exciting and a heck of a surprise ending.

9. It's rare for me to not struggle to stay awake for a race that runs this late.
I thought to myself that at lap 375 that I would go to bed and watch the DVR in the morning. But I just couldn't do it. I mean it was the first edtion of this years game 7.

Seriously the comers and goers in the last 100 laps was really interested. I love it when an extended green flag run and tire wear intiates short pitting. Thats when the suspense cranks up and opens up the various pathways for someone to win or lose.

9999999999 gadzillion with a 9919919191919919199 gadzillion bonus for the first Round "Lotto" sweep. Fast cars, great strategy....another win week. Love this. HELL YES!!!!!

Back to ratings, I give it a 7, because the tires situation was a mess IMO. I’ve been watching races since the 60’s. I’ve lived old school short tracks, and while tire wear is a desired factor I felt this new compound Goodyear brought to Bristol (for the right front tire) was a fail. Too soft, got shredded too soon relative to the other tires. Very different from practice behavior, so it threw the teams off early. Major kudos to those who managed it well. Amazing runs by Corey Heim and Zane Smith.

7.20. Hard race to rate. Seemed like everyone had a chance, regardless of how good or bad they were running. That doesn’t seem like Cup racing to me. Bell just happened to be there at the end…and I like Bell. But it was definitely entertaining and kept my interest even watching some side by side commercials.

Yeah, great race, but the tire wear was a bit overkill. Soft tires that wear are great but 3 cars shouldn't get knocked out due to fires from the rubber buildup and 40 lap runs is a bit ridiculous
