Damn...a day late, even though I was on last night.

Double damn, the new format doesn't include the exact day of joining this board, just the month.

But for a lot of us on here, trust me, it was the 14th day of June in the year of our Lord 2002.

Just nine months after 9/11,,,that seems like a long, long time ago now.

But anyhow, a score(score??lol) of us on here, many of whom are gone now, joined exactly 9 years ago yesterday.

Funny how it happened, a lot of us were on the old TR board and apparently got disgruntled and ended up here. (no one told me, dammit, I had to find my way here by accident after I noticed everyone else was gone from there....:eek:)

For a while there, we were collectively known as the fourteeners( well, at least thats what I called us, lol)....man, this board was a different place back then, and with a little nostalgia in my eyes, it seemed all fresh and cool and wide open.

Of course, I had only been online a few months, and the whole damned net seemed that way on those Earthlink-ed days.

Anyhow, a tip of the hat to the handful of us still left...and a big 'miss you guys' to those that have moved on.

I sure as heck do miss the old gang though. Really and truly.

Miss ya Bowtie, DeeDee, Flametamer, Hardscrabble, Awesome Bill, Barelypure, Eatmorepossum, Paul, Turtle5 or whatever Pookie's handle was, Sgbg88, abooja...all you guys. The old gang ain't what it used to be. Even the GBFC is gone...

Also Kat and Gollum and Tiny who are hopefully posting away happily at some big message board in the sky.

And to Benevolent One( 4x) Lappy, Fergy, Whizzer, Mopardh, Numbers(be9ak7ts16) Buck and Bucky, my babes Lisa and Gail and Kelly and all the rest who are sometimes still around( and yeah, Im buzzed and likely forgot somebody..hell, Im positive I did.)

Thanks though, to TRL, Maj( miss you too, even though you are still here), NW and all the other guys(actually gals) that run this place. ( and I really don't even know who runs it anymore, whoa.)

So any of you guys with that 'june 2002'( or anytime in 2002, that was a good year) join date give a shout out, would ya?

Oh, and happy29, ...you I dont miss, you little #$%^%

Wow that is a long time on a message board. I can only imagine the things that went on before I joined in 09. Was it as rowdy in the podium as it is now? lol

Anyhow, thats how you say it, I think. Damn I always had troubles with it.
 
Yo, Clark, you and I were on a different forum for a few years before signing up here. I don't recall the name of that forum or what we used as handles, forum names, but it was more racing than other items of interest. Seems to me it was as early as '98 or '99 but due to advancing age, my memory is slightly faded.

Not sure how we found this place and neither do I recall the history but it seems it was under different ownership at the time and when different owner took over the dates changed indicating when we signed up.
If that is incorrect, maybe someone could refresh my memory and maybe 97forever could recall the "handles" we used on the other forum.

As for that Mexican beer, I prefer Dos Equis XX and domestic, Yuengling, both with a limit of two, or, to put it in perspective, 24 fluid ounces. Anymore than that and my pacemaker begins to run at a rough idle. Hope you stick around for another fifty years, at least. :cheers:
 
Yep i joineed up here back in 02 also, I think it was the fall, not sure. Used to have heated debates with Paul about plate racing, those were the good old days, but this is still a great place and thanks to everyone who makes it go!

Ah yeah Ken, we do go way back, it's been a decade at least, and a few boards it seems like. :beerbang:

And you like that Dos Equis( which I do too) because you are THE MOST INTERESTING MAN IN THE WORLD, as the commercials say!

I still prefer Sol or Corona though.

You drinking that Corona with limes? You know in Mexico they think Corona is crap beer too. Corona stole the idea to drink it with limes from Tecate. When I could drink I drank Mexican beers starting in the early 80s because the preservatives in Mexican beers didn't upset my stomach. I was drinking Tecate with limes in 1981. My favorite Mexican beers were Tacate, Carta Blanca, and DosXX .

97, didn't join in June of that year, but did so later in the year. During my first year, there were a bunch of us that Paul banned, mostly because he disliked Jr. and didn't want to read anything from those who did. abooja started her own board and I hung out there for a long time until the board got hacked. Remember Budgirl and her sister Parkhere? We got into some good debates there like we do here. From what I remember, abooja got married and it seemed that she lost her interest in racing. How about DE Wrangler and his wife cutiepie? How things have changed.

BTW, best Mexican beer is Negra Modelo!

I'd have to agree on that beer...I remember another racing site I was on for awhile back about 6 years ago, it folded up the woman running couldn't get sponsorship, and the bandwith was too much. Be damned if I remember the name, but a few of the same people that frequent here were ther also.
 
I was on a forum called Nascarspace before I came here. It was active and then it died out. Never really did hear why people just quit posting.

I think it was something else back then, unless it started as vBulletin and was converted to Invision Board. Paul would have to come jog my memory. Maybe the converters weren't sophisticated back in the day and lost forum data. In any case, it was Invision Board for a while (I've still got the files laying around somewhere). I remember doing the conversion from Invision Board to vBulletin some time after Sam and I took over. But the conversion back to vBulletin kept all the posts and dates intact, cause I know from doing several board conversions how much of a pain it is to lose track of old posts and registrations. The history of the board is worth the trouble of going through and making sure everything tracks over nicely.

I remember all of them, yep. Wrangler eventually started hating me for some reason...:D He was a good enough guy, other than that, though.

And yeah, Paul was a big Stewart guy, and really, really hated Jr...( and Fergy maybe...but back then, we all hated Fergy )

Anyhow, I always respected Hardscrabble and Eatmorepossum a lot. I would never have debated either one of those two. And ol' Whizzer could also be a holy terror back then.Whew. Those guys were just damned solid.:beerbang:

I do know that she married, but after that, she just kind of faded away. Maybe love did her in! :) She was a sweetie for sure. Here's another name that I last saw on Racebuds...Pbunch. Paul was a big boobie guy and would always post a pic or two just to tweak the girls. He was nothing but fun.

No idea to think it was when I joined the number 1 google result for "nascar forum". One day it was just like no ones posting anymore and then it just kept going until about only 4 people were left or so then 1 day I went to log on and it was a totally different site, which I joined but it never went anywhere and still hasn't. I was pretty sick of that site when it went away. Ended up on gtg and then here.

Yep remember him too. I used to love to get Paul going about Jr having an advantage at the plate tracks, he used to say that Nascar let them do things to their cars that's why Jr and Mikey used to run so well at Daytona and Dega. Made for some great threads, especially from a Newbie invading his board back in 02.
 
It seems like it was some time in late 2001 that I joined here as 4xchampncountin.

I don't remember exactly when or why I had to create a new account as Benevolent One to get back in.

The board was a lot of fun back then. DeeDee was awesome, Gollum, DEWrangler, Kat and most of the crew that is still here like Maj, TRL, Buckaroo, Whizzer, and others have been fun to hang out with on here over the years. Of course, there were the occasional douche bags, like Happy, over the years but you'll have that anywhere. The mods have done a really nice job over the years of weeding out the problems.
 
I joined in 03, when the board was hoppin and everyone liked each other. People didn't b1tch and moan about every little petty thing.

The best time is when thread games was alive and well. I think I had my first 600 posts in 3 days!!!!
 
been here forever just don't post as much as others

and i miss Kat the most, she seemed to be able to keep me under control in my early days
