Kansas, Am I alone in not expecting much of show?

Ahem ,..in between those super exciting episodes of "pimp my ride" and "pass time" :)
I hear ya. The one that confuses me the most is the Saturday practice from 10:00-9:55am. I'm still trying to figure out how they are going to pull that one off.

I watch the entire race and follow the leader board on tv as well as my laptop. I see faster cars working their way up though the field , usually before the broadcast crew. I also watch cars that gain and/or lose on pit stops . There is much more to Nascar racing than 'close finishes'.
I do the same thing. I love watching the lap times especially now that it updates every lap. Looking at the lap times and seeing which cars fall off more and who is coming up and falling back. I always go to my parents to watch the races and Im usually telling my dad things and then the announcers talk about it a couple minutes later. It makes the racing so much better watching the lap times. I've started watching the lap times in practice too because practice always seemed to be way different than the race(for obvious reasons). But if you really pay a lot of attention to the fall off in the practice lap times you'll get a good idea of who will be fast longer into a run. Which is really what determines who will run well for the most part. Driver rarely do a full fuel run in practice so the leaderboard can be very misleading.

As far as the thread question I'm always expecting it to be exciting. I love the way the front of the field bunches up more when they get into lap traffic and I think it'll make for some great finishes this year.

Kansas moment...... Carl Edwards forgets he's in real life, not playing PS3.

I have better things to do than to worry about what I fantasize Nascar is worrying about and what "they"would rather do or not do. They have been doing just fine for years without my "expert" opinion, and they will continue to do so ..or not. They don't give a tinkers damn what I think. If I see a better race on TV I watch it. They have made some really good decisions lately IMO. Trucks at Rockingham is a hit, the Trucks on dirt, they hit that out of the park and it hasn't even happened yet, Gen 6 car, on and on. Real easy to sound like an expert after the fact, but most would fail miserably if they had a dog in the hunt. thousands have tried and only a very select few get to call the shots. If I don't like the "product" I go somewhere else. constant whining just makes a person an uninteresting bore. And yes, I am looking forward to the race.

Am I the only one who was thouroughly entertained by the fall race last year? Maybe its just because I like crashes, but fall Kansas was a great race!

This could develop into one of the best races this year, with snow tires and all...

Today's Cup schedule at Kansas: Practice from 1-2:30 pm EASTERN (Speed) & qualifying at 4:40 pm EASTERN (Speed)

That's a great idea for them to do.

Anyways, I forsee some nutso pit strategy at Kansas, as Goddyear will be using a rock hard tire.

Matt doesn't normally qualify well but he laid down hell of a lap.
New track qualifying record. I like the new car.

will someone please explain why they repaved kansas and even michigan for that matter?? I think I would rather watch a pocono race than a kansas race honestly. at least pocono has a big draft effect on the cars. I have never thought the kansas race was all that well attended either.

Asphalt degrades over time and it needs to be replaced. The freeze- thaw cycle exacerbates the degradation. If they don't repave, the track surface will start breaking apart.

I wonder if they get obama money like we do to repave ? Around my house thats the only place I can see it. they repave every spring just so we can go out and buy 4.00 dollars a gallon gas and drive on new pavement.LOL

This better be good, I ain't switching over to Hawks @ Pacers.

The new surface looks more worn than I thought it would be by now. Must be the weather. If that's the case, it'll probably be the same with Michigan and Pocono.

The Chevys look like they're a little off this weekend. Only one Chevy qualified in the top 10 (Newman qualified 9th), and from what I've seen in practice they're not setting the world on fire there either.

If the truck race is any indication, they should run all of the chase races at Kansas.:D

I'm a fan of racing, not cruising around under caution. Not that we give ratings for truck races, but I give the race a 5, with the great racing after the final restart saving the race from being a 3. I was actually bored during part of the race. I can rarely say that about a Cup or NW race.

Odd someone is missing his take it to the podium comment

When theres no cautions people complain, when theres lots of cautions people complain.

Well I thought it was a heck of a race. We had three and four wide racing with no idea who would win right until the last turn.
