Kansas RACE thread

when the only car you are watching is the 24 ("everyone else struggling"):D I can see why you think that.
Harvick, Jr, and JMac being everyone else who had the best chance to win but lady luck bit them :confused:

Honorable mention to Keselowski, Gordon, and even Kahne. No idea on how strong Johnson could have been.

Damn. Just watched the race. I was doing this...

I love this bike.
A lot of drivers and teams are going to be in trouble when Larson gets some more seat time. I can't wait. I wonder what KyBu said to Larson after the race; praise, I'm sure.
Both of my guys in the top 5. Good stuff for me.
I'm not even going to glance at the MLGCST.
Lap 85 prolly my favorite lap of the entire race. Kandy Kahne into the fence was a close 2nd.
Pretty ho-hum race overall. I was really pulling for Larson with about 15 to go.

@joeylogano

Awesome racing with you yesterday @KyleLarsonRacin you were bad fast up there by the wall.

@KyleLarsonRacin

@joeylogano was a lot fun. That's as hard as I've ever seen you run the top. It was kind of cool to be behind and see but frustrating also!!

Are you driving with no hands?

The Kansas Cup race overnighted at a 2.0 in the TV ratings, down 13% from the 2.3 the race pulled last year.

@bobpockrass

ESPN reports: 2.3 U.S. household rating, averaging 3,601,000 viewers for Cup race at Kansas. Last year: 2.6 rating/avg 4,162,000 viewers

That is a solid number. I hope it is accurate.
I agree. Pretty damn good considering we're supposed to be in a death spiral. That's not much of a fall off and my bold prediction for next year is that those ratings will be higher.

I wish we could see the demographic breakdown.

Not a bad number at all, 3.6 million viewers. Many many programs would love to have that number.

You have a point. 3.6M is still a lot of people. I talk about TV ratings on here a lot not to bang the "NASCAR is dying" drum, because I don't believe it is. I do it more to prove that this crazy Chase format is not the savior the NASCAR brass thought it was going to be. Most of the fan base seems pretty turned off to it, so I think we'll see Chase Version 5.0 in the next couple of years.

Yeah I know I have a point.. And looking at the long view of things, pardon the pun, overall motorsports programming despite being shuffled around this year and losing programming hours, the ratings are good enough. I know you are obsessively on a mission with blinders on IMO. If you would look at specifically just Nascar racing, you would see that over the years they continually experiment with the racing. Unless you really aren't a racing fan, if you don't like something Nascar is doing, keep watching because it probably will get changed, modified, or eliminated.
