I missed the race as I was just leaving for work and forgot to DVR it dang......but was it Yeley who ended up finishing the race for the 9?..

heres what Kasey had to say....

http://www.sbnation.com/nascar/2010...ichard-petty-motorsports-rpm-nascar-news-2010

Kasey Kahne offered a bit more clarity to the confusing events surrounding his team on Saturday night, when Kahne crashed and JJ Yeley was left to finish the race in the No. 9 car.

Kahne, speaking to a handful of reporters who attended his foundation's 5K charity run on Sunday morning, said he was physically ill and vomited on Saturday night, adding he "didn't feel good enough to get back in the car."

But he was also incensed over yet another mechanical problem for his Richard Petty Motorsports team – this time a brake failure that sent him crashing on lap 124. He acknowledged that if the car was in contention for the win, he could have continued driving.

So while Kahne said he was sick – adding he wasn't 100 percent for his early-morning run – he was also angry about the brake situation and recalled how he "lost it" over the team radio.

"I was just mad," he said. "I came into the race thinking we had a shot to win. We had a good car in practice. It went green, and I was still a little bit tight, but I passed cars and felt really good and then – boom – my brakes are gone (on lap 40).

"It's not like you have half brakes and you can pump them; your foot goes to the floor – it bottoms out. There's nothing. I mean, it's a joke."

Kahne said this was his third brake issue of the season and second in three weeks. He lamented the fact that RPM was unable to come up with solutions to his troubles and said he's been the only one in the eight-car stable (including Roush Fenway Racing) to experience the brake problem.

"Well, this isn't the first time we've had this exact problem," he said. "So I was yelling, 'How can we not fix this?' I guess it's something to do with the fluid, and basically, we run stuff that's not very good compared to some of the other teams. So once you lose your brakes, you can't get them back – because that fluid, you can't get back.

"Their point is, we have eight teams and I'm the only one that's had this issue. And that's a good point, but I've never had any issues in my past six years, and if you look at brakes after race, my brake pads are better (less worn) than any one of the other seven or the same as the best ones who don't use much brake. I don't use much brake. So it's just a mess, really."

To cap it all off, Kahne said an unidentified member of the RPM organization accused him of not pulling his weight behind the wheel following Saturday's crash. That outraged Kahne, who said he's doing all he can.

"I was told I needed to start doing my part, is what one guy told me last night after the race, and I told him he needs to do his part," he said. "I mean, I can't control the issues I've had this year. I don't know how many parts I've broken, how many shifter handles, control arms, brakes – if I really thought about it, I could come up with all kinds of stuff.

"I can't control that as a driver. I'm doing my part; I just need the car. I work as hard as anybody out there."

Kahne and crew chief Kenny Francis are both headed to Red Bull Racing next season, where Kahne could be part of a three-car stable with Scott Speed and Brian Vickers.

It doesn't sound like it can come soon enough.

Will Kahne have the chance to leave RPM early and drive a few races for Red Bull this year?

"Um...I don't know," he said. "I really don't know if that'll happen or not. I doubt it."

Doesnt sound like Kasey even wants to get back in that car

What does Kasey expect? He's already announced he's leaving the team, so like other drivers before him that announced they were leaving, he gets to test some stuff out for the team to know what to do or not do next year. I guess Kasey thinks he's special and shouldn't be a test driver. So he gets mad and don't get back in the car. I say they should just put Yeley in there the rest of the races.

Hey, he's making millions, cant he afford some brake fluid, you know, the good kind?

I hate it when lame duck drivers get pissy. Grow a pair, dude!

AGREED!

For a guy to crawl out of the car and not be SERIOUSLY sick is a joke! As much money as he is getting paid and is making off of merchandise sales, that should be drive enough for him to put his self in the car and stay there. If I were Richard, I would tell him to go ahead and get lost for the rest of the season.

He'd better not pull that crap at HMS 'cause we all know what Mr. H thinks of those actions. ;)

This is bull**** yelling at Kasey people RPM is the one giving him the **** stuff, you test things but brake failures isn't one of them. RPM can burn in hell:mad:

I'd be ticked off too if I were him. It's unfair to the driver and the team as a whole to use someone with his talent and potential to win races as an experiment, regardless if he's leaving in a couple of months. Sure don't give him the newest and greatest stuff because teams keep it a secret but give the guy a chance, he's still on the same team. I can't wait for him to leave that half ass organization. They will eventually fail and be a start and park unless they get some talent to replace Kahne, Dinger is OK but will never match Kahnes potential.

Ok, I get what you guys are saying about the "experiment" stuff. But here is my question, is that any reason to crawl up out of the car and say you are "sick." Give me a break! There is a thing called integrity, and this whole thing is a joke. Then he goes out and runs a 5K run this morning... If you are so sick that you are throwing-up, how the heck do you do a 5K run...

I have lost all respect for Kahne...

Sickness it goes away:mad: Also I'm not going out when some idiot on the team tells me its my fault that we are giving you **** brakes. Don't lose respect for Kahne lose respect for RPM and the fact that they cause this. I hope Kasey's in an 80 something car on friday:mad:

I assure you, if I were running RPM he would be in an 80 something car on Friday....

It's his job to drive whatever they give him. If he feels like they are giving him crap, then be a man about it. Tell them that instead of " oh I'm sick".

You have no proof he wasn't sick, If your sick why run 130 laps down.

I'm not an RPM fan by any means, but Kahne is paid by them to DRIVE cars....Look, I am not saying that he wasn't queezy or whatever the case is. But at the same time, MAN UP! What happened to they days when guys like Rudd duct tapped his eyes to drive the race....

Rudd didn't do it to run 130 laps down.

Brake fluid is brake fluid. That's just a lame excuse for the fact that he just wants the season to end.

Kasey thought that by getting in a wreck with Hornish that nobody would blame him.

I love all the Kasey haters coming out of the woodwork:mad:

I am not a Kasey hater....I have alwasy been indifferent about him. I always thought he was decent...but call a spade a spade. This was a punk move...period. That is all I am trying to say about it. Personally, I do not think you can take up for a driver doing something stupid just because they are your favorite.

Perfect example: I have been a Gordon fan for over 15 years..but over the years I have seen him do stupid stuff that I don't agree with. Recently, he seems to have forgotten how to judge pit road speed. I think he needs to get his head out of his rear and pull it together.

Just because you comment that a driver does something wrong does not mean that you are a "hater."

He was sick, I know if I'm sick and someone says something stupid I feel even worse then. This isn't like Cryle crying leaving the track and going home.

Kasey doesn't strike me as a tough guy. I always thought it was an unwritten rule between drivers that as long as you can walk you at least try to get in the car.

I don't know, I've never been sick one night and feel like running a 5k the next morning.
How is this not like what Kyle did? Kyle wrecked and wouldn't get back in the car and team had to get another driver, Kasey wrecked and wouldn't get back in the car and the team had to get another driver. Sounds like they both did the exact same thing. Guess Kyle isn't the only cry baby after all.

Me neither! Go figure....

But, you now, it is not my place to say the guy wasn't sick, that is not the point here. The point is, if he did have an upset stomach, I wonder how many other drivers have drove with an upset stomach or feeling sick, or whatever else, that we have not even heard about? Probably more than we would care to know.

Bottom line is, he didn't WANT to go back out there. He bailed on his team. Sure, maybe he didn't feel well. But many drivers have drove through alot worse than an upset stomach.....I wonder if he had been running in the top ten if he would have had this sickness....

Thats my point why drive sick if your 130 freaking laps down.

Because at least for a few more weeks it's his job. Doesn't matter if he's 200 laps down if the owner says go back out you go back out. No driver enjoys riding around half speed 100 laps down but you have to do it.

Brake fluid is brake fluid. That's just a lame excuse for the fact that he just wants the season to end.

you would be surprised. There are alot of alterations of brake fluid out there, not all are equal. It also depends on the brake caliper design- Willwood specifies that the calipers may lock up if synthetic brake fluid is used. That's also why different mfgr's reccomend different brake fluids. It's not all just universal Dot3 and Dot4 anymore.

I love all the Kasey haters coming out of the woodwork:mad:

No kidding, how can anyone not give Kahne the benefit of the doubt? Nobody has said anything about RPM giving Kahne **** cars for the past month and Kahne, his CC and the rest of his team turning a crap car into a decent finish some of those nights. Kahne has gone with the flow and not caused any problems in that Mickey Mouse organization and he finally had enough. Kahne finally showed frustration over the fact he is getting the **** end of the stick for some time now and you guys think he's the bad guy. Respect, loyalty and current contracts work both ways people and Kahne has gotten zero in return.

Can you imagine if it was Kyle, the forums server would blow up.

its not like he needs to run for points he's not in the chase he's not gonna fall out of the top 35 for Ambrose next year park it.

Oh I misunderstood, I didn't know he only got paid if he made the chase or stayed in the top 35. Silly me I thought he got paid to drive the car in every race.

Its RPM they have a history of not paying people, yeah but not if the car is a rolling death trap, brake failure its kinda serious.

My bad, I thought you had to drive and do what is best for your team no matter where you are on the track.

Not if they try to get you killed can't set up a car and are causing your car to fail.

Wow..ok for one how come nothing was said on TV about this? I didn't hear any of the ESPN guys yapping about brake failure or why Yeley was in the 9? I like Kasey, met him and his girl in Vegas one year, he is a really nice guy, but you don't bail. He has been my favorite driver since Bill left the 9 way back, but if you have issues you settle them after the race or on Monday morning at the meetings back at the shop.

Kasey was done at that team when Ray left

I am a big Evernham fan, and I normally agree with most of what he says..but my question here is Kahne is owed an apology for WHAT exactly?

the guy who Kasey was classy enough to not throw under the bus who said all the failures are Kasey's fault
