Keselowski looking to lend hand in No. 22 search

While I don't care for Keselowski's egomania, I was thinking that many of us come here on a regular basis stating who we think Penske and every other owner should put in their cars, so why shouldn't he?

Look i am ok with drivers giving input on future teammates because that is who they work with and need them chemistry. My issue with this is that Kes feels entitled to be part of the actual decision making process, and using words like "elite driver". So i assume he wants a Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, or Jimmy Johnson cause those are the only elite drivers i see. Keselowski needs to settle down the ego and entitlement and just race his damn car.

I think that's for Roger to say. He took Kez's advice to start a NW team, and that worked out great. He asked for Paul Wolfe to be his NW cc, and that got Roger his first nascar championship of any kind. When Paul was moved up to Cup, you can bet Kez had a say in hiring Todd Gordon, who he had 6 wins with. Both of Rogers Cup CC's came through Kez, and you really feel he shouldn't speak up about who he feels is the best on track talent for the #22?

I know this question wasn't asked of me but I don't see why he shouldn't offer his advice to Penske - in private and not in the media.

True, but I assume he was asked a question and gave an honest answer. Maybe he wants the interested free agent drivers to start buying him lunch.

I think maybe Penske should listen to Brad. Seems Penske hasn't been very good at meshing two drivers together. Wallace/Mayfield, Wallace/Newman, Newman/Busch...they had a great combination with Kez/Busch but Penske can't handle a little dirt on that squeeky clean persona he wants. Didn't seem the Kez/Allmendinger thing working out even without the suspension. And one more thought on the Penske deal, CHEVROLET! F*rd has 2 championships since 2000, same as Pontiac. You can't really think switching to F*rd and not building your own motors is the missing link.

True on the Ford thing GP, but there isn't room in the Chevy camp for Penske. Toyota is floundering a little, and Ford has been challenging the past 2 years.

We'll never know why Keselowski and Kligerman parted ways, but I'm hearing that it was Keselowski who relieved Kligerman.

We'll see what happens when a standalone Truck race comes up.

You mean the same team Justin Allgaier raced for starting at the end of 2008 and then full time in 2009? The same 2009 that Brad Keselowski was still running NNS for JR Motorsports? That same team. So Kes told Rodger to start the team back before he was ever with Penske? Not to mention Penske has had a NNS team since 2005, but didn't go full time until 2009 with Allgaier. I think I am done with this conversation if all you are going to do is make **** up.

No, it wasn't the same team. Penske added the #22 team in 2010 with Keselowski being the driver.

Personally, I have no idea who or what influenced Penske's decision.

The way FB worded to me it sounds like if it wasnt for kes penske wouldnt be in NNS. Now if FB had said "took his advice and started another NW team"

Add another car? Yes, start a NNS team no.

Sure Jeffy, lets add a car and no team.

You do know the difference between a team and an organization, don't you? Here's the facts, jeffy. Penske offered Kez a ride in 2009, That's a fact. Brad initially turned Roger down, because Rick H. was trying to work out a Kasey type wharehouse deal to hold onto Brad. Rick asked Tony to start a 3rd team, but Tony said the organization wasn't ready. When Brad realized he may have to wait years for a Cup ride at HMS (partly because HMS signed MM to a 1 year extension), he went to Roger and CONVINCED Roger to start a NW team so he could run for the championship.

Understand how it works now?

At the time, Brad said having a successful NW team, which Penske didn't really have with Justin, was how Roger would attract future talent for his Cup program. Considering that both of Penske's current Cup CC's came to Penske through the very TEAM Brad convinced Roger to create, Brad sure was right.

I think that the term elite driver could include all of the chase drivers .Including Kyle, Kurt , Ryan, etc. I guess any driver with a better record &/or experience than Brad ,might be considered an elite driver to Brad . In any event , there are several chase drivers like Ryan Newman or Martin Truex and several veteran drivers like Mark Martin or Jeff Burton who could be considered. Some are committed, some aren't , but many would look seriously at a fully funded ride.

How was I to know that you don't have a clue as to what a team actually is? You seem to have thought I said "NW program" rather than NW team. That's ALL on you pal. Just man up and say so without using me as an excuse for your bizzare episode of confusion.

I understand fully what you are trying to say. I just don't agree with you at all.

I like Brad and like him commenting on this situation. Why wouldn't he want to have the best teammate possible? I agree with what someone said earlier that Brad will probably test the water at the end of his contract. Penske is a fine team but I am not sure they are on the same level with the powerhouse teams.

I said that Brad would check his options before signing an extension with Penske. If he's stuck with bringing Sam up to speed for 2 years when there were better options available, I think he'll have 1 foot out the door.

As he should. As I've stated before Sam brings nothing to the table IMO.

Lol. Brad isnt going anywhere. Like it or not Sam will be driving a Penske Cup car. Either in the 22 or in a third car (12).

I don't think anyone can really say that Brad "isn't going anywhere." He is a very talented young driver that I think several other teams will show interest in. And sooner or later he is going to want to win a championship...Penske probably aint the place that is going to happen...
