Kevin didn't get the memo in 'Tona? I think NASCAR had it wrong from 49 to 2003. I would have loved to see a Chase race at Fonda NY in 67 and/or at the track that Cuomo destroyed. No sandbagging at the last race of the season is a racefan's dream.

Fonda is going the way of NASCAR these days. Losing fans due to poor management...

Has anyone went back and applied the Chase system to the old points system to see who would have won in the 5-10 years prior? Might be interesting...

This crappy system has also **** on (to some extent) drivers that were considered pioneers of the sport.

Take Jeff and Tony for example..

Both hall of famers who ended their careers rather flat due to the chase. Not because of the lack of championships but because of how racing is done nowadays. Racing is no longer an art in NASCAR.

From the drivers either phoning it in for 90% of the season and the other 10 just being jackasses on the track to NASCAR manufacturing results. It's just a mess.
