Knockout Qualifying - Round 2

Or maybe just use the pre race thread. :D

Seriously..
Pre race thread - to talk everything dealing with the race before the green flag (unless sliced thinks race related topics deserve their own thread such as qualifying & race prediction threads, cuz ya know we like to talk about things over n over n over again BUT if it's in separate threads it's game on).
You don't have to use this one... next time feel free to go over there and talk about it :D

This thread got 5 pages on its own.. this new qualifying is a big deal and I like (as Im sure others so as well) being able to talk about it without having to look through several different topics and discussions between different members on different subjects in the pre race thread. Same thing with my prediction threads. It's a personal preference and I think there are many people who would agree. If there are people who disagree and would rather this be in the pre race thread then they can go over to the pre race thread and talk about it there.

For me the pre race thread is for the weekend schedule, odds, weather, paint schemes....maybe some practice discussion and somewhere to talk on race day when were all excited and the race thread hasn't been made yet. The threads I make are for individual topics.

I rarely visit the random NASCAR thread stuff because of just that. Its just so everywhere it's hard to follow. So if I see something there or somewhere else I feel people would like to see or talk about I'll make a thread for it. So it gets the attention it deserves.

Doesn't mean you have to come in there saying "Hey! That's in the random thread!".... If you don't feel it deserves it's own thread... don't visit said thread and talk about it where you have deemed fit.

:)

From Jayski:
  • Drivers say qualifying format creates dangers:NASCAR's new knockout qualifying format has been universally hailed as more exciting and interesting than the old single-car system. But for the second week in a row, drivers also said it's extremely dangerous. Since the only legal way for teams to cool their cars is to drive slowly around the track, there's a dramatic speed difference between drivers making qualifying runs and those driving as if they're in a construction zone.
"Riding around the bottom - we've got to do it, it's the only way to keep the engine cool - but that has got to be the most dangerous thing I've ever done in racing," #55-Brian Vickers said after Friday's session at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. "(#36-Reed Sorenson) went by me at 170 mph faster than I was going. Had he slipped or hit me, I'd be done. It would be so bad."
Teams need to cool their engines between attempts at fast laps in order to keep their cars from overheating. Teams are not allowed to cool their cars on pit road in between runs because it would require opening the hood to attach a cooling box. NASCAR does not want teams to make adjustments on pit road during the knockout sessions and since policing every open hood would be difficult, it is not permitted. As a result, the disparity in speed created some dicey situations - several of which occurred again Friday.
#15-Clint Bowyer, who qualified third, said he nearly collided with #88-Dale Earnhardt Jr. during one run and called for a change due to the "dangerous" difference in speed. "We've got to stop that," he said. "...I about smoked him. That's not the guy you want to hit at a 140 mph deficit. (A collision is) going to hurt me and it might hurt Dale Jr., and that would be bad for business."
#1-Jamie McMurray, who was among the drivers to raise the safety issue at Phoenix, said he texted NASCAR Vice President of Competition Robin Pemberton a few days ago and was told, "Let's give it a couple weeks and just see what plays out." [NASCAR spokesman Kerry] Tharp echoed that sentiment in a statement to USA TODAY Sports on Friday. "We're only two race weekends in with the new qualifying format," he said. "It's something new and it's something that will take time to get used to. We will continue to look at it."(USA Today)(3-8-2014)

Yeah they have to do something about that for sure. It's only a matter of time until we see something like this..

"Knockout Qualifying - Round 2" was a little confusing considering they have multiple qualifying rounds these days. At first I thought you were starting a thread for each round of Vegas qualifying. lol

Why not just call it by the name of the track each week, like... Vegas Qualifying

just a thought.
Because that would make sence

That's just because you got called on it;)
Lol No I was actually thinking about that when I made this one... It was more for dramatic effect.
Ummm, so now you can tell us what to post and what not to?

I do agree with you on the random thread thing since I rarely read it.
No.. absolutely not.. Im just saying if people have such a problem with my threads they don't have to post in them.

If all of this was in the pre race thread it would look like the random stuff thread... there's something like 50 more comments on this thread in the past 15 hours than the pre race thread got since Tuesday.

People are actually making an issue of starting a thread for qualifying? lol

Maybe we should all just post everything we have to say in the Random NASCAR Stuff thread, so no one gets upset.

Or just go to the Danica thread and bash her for whatever she has done wrong recently :)

Reed-

Thanks man. I just hope that she doesnt go to the dentist with a smashed in grille...

Its more complicated then that.

After a thread is started, people will post in the latest one because its the one that's bumped up and generally people dont like looking for threads that aren't a few pegs up on the page.

Its about being considerate more than anything. You post on an existing thread as to not override the other guy's thread which happens to be of the same subject.

Just a thought..
