no, No, NO, NOOOOOO!

do NOT bring facts to a pi$$ing contest!:D

Well still.. with all the rule changes going on its hard to compare any of the past few years to each other.
Were you old enough to watch Dale Sr. race when he 1st came into NA$CAR?
If you did you would see why Larson excites the fans.

Still wondering how this became about Joey?...

Because you believe Joey is a great driver while Larson is nothing special. I made the comparison to show that Larson is actually doing as well if not better than Logano in the same amount of time. Considering how you feel about Logano I thought it was appropriate to make the comparison.

How do you rationalize a "nothing special" driver beating Cup veterans like Kyle Busch, Logano, Harvick, Kes, and Jr in NW races?

I wasn't.
But I was around when Jeff Gordon stated in the then BGN series, and Larson reminds me a lot of what I saw in kid Gordon back then.

If we could all pick only the best years our favorite drivers have had, some of us would be in a much better position to boast than others :)

That's not true. You're comparing Kyle Larson's first 43 Nationwide races to Joey Logano's first 43 Cup races.

Here's what Joey Logano had in his first 43 Nationwide starts.

43 races, 6 wins, 19 top 5, 32 top 10, 862 laps led.

Which unlike the false argument you were trying to convey, absolutely blows Kyle Larson out of the water.

As far as 1st full seasons go in the NWS, Logano's was an impressive one.

larson was driving for a nationwide team, Logano drove for Gibbs who dominates nationwide. Big difference

new to joining the board and a long time lurker, but Sliced I am a bigger fan of Logano but you do seem to interject him into things and it makes him unlikable, much the way I have no like or dislike for Jr, but when his fans by virture of him breathing makes him a God, it makes you nuts, so I can understand where some are coming from. :)

I like to chime in here, in all fairness Logano was ripping the Cuppers too in NW. Larson in that regard by comparison is not unique, some of the Cuppers names have changed but Cuppers none the less. And Larson has his two wins as a Cupper in a NW series. I have no dog in the Cupper fight, I like and believe overall it elevates the game of most. The financial impact could be for another arguement. Everybody is whoopping it up that he won in NW but he is a Cupper, rookie or not, same age as Logano was. Me I could care less if he won in NW or in Cup, its when people scream with 100 excuses why its o.k. for one and the scenario is pretty much the same for another driver and the hate rains. Larson did NOT win in NW as a NW driver, he has won as a Cupper, people forget that fact or chose it ignore. Logano like Larsen is young, but his judged standard by some is elevated to impossible saying well he didn't beat so and so or nobody says he DID beat so and so..never once mentioning in his situation all the guys are much, much older. Kyle does it twice and the first thing they mention is the other guys ages. Just noticing how the press, media and fans have different standards depending on who it is..imo.

He's driving for a nationwide team though, not a cup team. That makes it impressive

I see what you are saying althought it kinda goes to my point of the insanity of hate of Cuppers in NW, why isn't that team looking for outside new young talent? You don't have to answer, it's retorical question, one can argue the same mindset of Joe Gibbs superteam or Joe Smoe justgettinbyteam. We all want the team owner to have altruistic goals in taking on new and unproven talent, but when it comes down to attracting sponsors and making the payroll, proven talent trumps the warm and fuzzy feeling all the time.

He's a constant charger, you can put him in the back of the field and in just a few laps he's up front just like Dale Sr. did in the beginning of his career. He brings excitement to a the races he's in because of his constant charging or even trying to charge. Maybe we should nic-name him the ninja.

I'm not saying Larson is better than Logano. Yes Logano did well in NW too, and I believe he's a very talented driver. What I find odd is a Logano fan that can see the obvious talent in Logano, yet fail to see the obvious talent in Larson, and dismissing Larson as nothing special.

I don't know how most of you feel about him, but I really am impressed with this kid. If he can keep this up as he has started out he is going to have a hell of a career. Not only is he good in Nationwide, but look at what he has done in Sprint. My opinion he will be someone to watch. Any thoughts?????

I like the kid a lot, he has made some way cool moves on the top guys during both Nation Wide and Cup races and drove away. IMHO, he is way better than Dillon. I think it has a lot to do with already having a lot of experience with light weight 800HP plus sprint cars as far as power to weight ratio. Plus he just has the nack.

Welcome to the forum sdj . Positive thoughts and well said .

I like Larson last year. he's better this year. I'm just hoping that him and Elliott revive that old Petty Pearson feud.

I really think Larson will find his way to victory lane, in cup, before the season is over....

sorry guys .....harry went on his own outside tsm. thought maybe turner did too ?

Well each week he is either in top 10 or close to it each week I am more impressed with what he is doing. I think he will get a win also this year

Harry Scott purchased the 51 Cup program on his own. As far as I know they are still partners in all other series' they compete in.

It's good, I just saw Turner's name on the entry list so that's what I wrote. I had to dig a little more to make sure it was a joint effort.

good . thought maybe he coupled up w/ thor or venturini ?
these hi $$ owners get competitive ya know.

I was gonna say Kyle Larson will win this year for DP2001 Bold predictions but it would've hardley been a bold prediction

but will he shift in corner.....or just run " hi side " ?
i'm goin w/ latter.

I have seen Larson race for some time now. I live an hour from where he is from. The guy can flat out drive. He has the ability to win and the guts to take chances. He does on occasion drive over his head. I think he will get a win at some point this season and has a huge future ahead of him. What has impressed me most is that he has shown an ability to handle all types of tracks. Short/superspeedways/mile and a halfs/dirt tke kid can drive. I watched him work Tony Stewart in an outlaw race last season in Stockton. I mean just flat out smoked the guy.

this is Kyle driving over his head

Of course I do... but from what I've seen he's not there. Getting there... but I do think Chase will do better faster... In fact I wouldn't be surprised if Chase Elliot won a cup race before Kyle Larson. He had one great run.. and some top 10's.. but top 10 is light years away from 1st... and he's not even a regular there really yet. He's good, yes... but I think most give him too much credit.

Bump

Great top five un.. seemed to get the right setup there at the end.. was top 15 most of e day
