I agree 1000 percent..... Bravo!!!!!! It pissed me off to no end to see all the Winston Cup Champions called either Nextel or Sprint Cup Champions...... now they will be Monster Cup Champions...... Monster or Nextel or Sprint isn't what was engraved on their trophy's.... it was Winston Cup...... as I recall....... before '72........ they still call those guys Grand National Champions..... as it should be.... give credit where credit is due....... don't allienate Winston...... they almost singlehandedly got Nascar to where it is today....... or..... was...... before they left and Brian took over..... Winston, ESPN, TNN and TBS......

Winston left. It's unfair to Monster Energy to refer to that series title with a former sponsor.

Maybe we should call Charlotte "Lowe's Motor Speedway" and Sonoma "Infineon Raceway" again. Or call the Coke Zero 400 (or Firecracker 400) the Pepsi 400.

Don't care what you call it, but Jeff Gordon is a four-time series champion.

And Mark Martin still won the 1990 NASCAR Winston/Nextel/Sprint/Monster Cup Championship.

Yes he is. He is a 4 time Nascar Cup Champion while DE,RP and JJ are also 7 time Nascar Cup Champions.
In hockey they play for the Stanley Cup and it don't matter who the sponsors are. Nascar needs to have it's own Championship Trophy and not the flavor of the day.

As NASCAR moves to shorter and shorter entitlement sponsorships, doing what many in this thread suggest will become more and more ridiculous and confusing to the average fan. "Chase Elliot, the two-time Monster Energy Cup Champ, one-time Coca-Cola Cup Champ, and three-time Bob's AutoBody Shop Cup Champ, is starting fifth today..."
 
back to thread subject. I think someone like landauer has a future. by all appearances she can drive well, and has the ex-reality star aspect to help generate sponsor interest. But as mentioned in the past, My money is on one of kate or robin dallenbach. We shall see.

There may be the teeniest bit of redneck resistance , but there have been improvements in the past couple of years . Even Mike Wallace has come around a bit .
