Very nice job lappy. I too love dear jerky. I used to work with a guy who brought it in all the time.
i am taged out on Buck. when you get the 1st set of tags you get 1 Doe, 1 Buck and after that. you can get as many Doe tags as you want. ( $40.00 KY hunting lin.....2 deer tags)
I got 2 new doe tags for $12.50 after i killed that 1st doe just in case.
Lean, dried meat strips, pounded into paste, mixed with fat and berries, then pressed into small cakes, MMMMMMMMM. Native American recipe, but I've never made it.

Sounds like KY is heavy on the Doe ratio, 1 Buck but as many Does as you can afford. Help the state out go for the bigger mature Does. Normally groups of three consist of the mother and two yearlings, and is a common sight in the South. Take the bigger of the group. The more Does that are harvested the better and bigger the Buck population will become. Doe meat eats just as good if not better than Buck. Harvesting the Does helps stablize the heard size and results in healthier and bigger Deer.

Nicely done man Thats a real good deer for your first buck (looks to be three times the size of your first one). Going to get the antlers mounted? I know u can't eat alllll the meat, better send some deer sticks up here
