...To get in on the 2nd annual season of my NASCAR Fantasy League on Facebook

NASCAR Fantasy Picks <--- link

I know we've been through this before but there's a few more people on here that may or may not be interested.

I've decided to post the rules this time that way you guys have a better idea of how it works..

NASCAR Fantasy Picks is an unofficial fan operated Facebook Group
Rules(as of 11/19/2013)

Every week members will pick one driver. They will earn points based on their drivers finish as well as any bonus points their driver earned.

Picks are first come first serve, so before you post your pick make sure that driver has not already been picked by another member for that week.

***YOU CANNOT PICK THE SAME DRIVER TWO WEEKS IN A ROW***

To make your pick for the week go to the events section of the group and click on the race that weekend. Members will be invited to each event during the week.

***PICKS MADE OUTSIDE THE EVENT PAGE FOR THAT WEEK WILL NOT BE COUNTED***

We will have an adapted version of the chase. When the regular season ends, just like in NASCAR the top 10 members in points as well as the two members outside the top 10 but inside the top 20 with the most wins will make the chase as wild cards, but will not receive any bonus points for their wins. If there are no members outside the top ten(and inside the top 20) with a win then the top 12 in points will make the chase.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chase Rules

When the chase starts we will reset the top ten members in points to 0 points as well as -3 chase bonus points per win. Plus the two wild cards in 11th and 12th with no bonus points. When the chase starts, members will then pick one driver for the remainder of the season. Driver picks for the chase will be made by members in order of points accumulated throughout the regular season.

***NOT BASED ON THE STANDINGS AFTER THE POINTS ARE RESET FOR THE CHASE***

Your driver MUST actually be in the chase.

Each week members will pick where they think their driver will finish and earn points based on how close they are. (i.e. if you guess 10th and your driver finishes 13th or 7th u will get 3 points)

After homestead the member in the chase with the least amount of points will win the NASCAR FANTASY PICKS CHAMPIONSHIP and bragging rights.

I am also considering getting a trophy inscribed and sent to the champion.

Also the championship winning player from the previous season will be given a provisional that they can pick a driver that has already been picked by another player for that race throughout the regular season.

Let`s all have a good time this 2014 NASCAR season!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!

(copied from the rules page)

So right now were at 28 members but undoubtedly there will be some who don't play all year.. I'm looking for people who will play all year... who knows you might get a trophy! :D It's pretty fun.. last season we had a 1 point difference for the championship.. I'm hoping for it to be even better this year because there's more people now.

People use facebook still?
800,000,000 monthly facebook visitors vs 250,000,000 monthly twitter visitors? I'd say yes. The people that say twitter is going to put facebook out of business are the same people that believe android phones are better than the iPhone.

I have neither so I wouldn't know. :p

On the phone arguement. I have an iPhone myself but I am tempted by the Galaxy S3. Looks pretty neat. Only problem is the humongous big screen.

Then again the iPhone's is pretty small too. Gotta find a happy medium.

...how do you not have a presence in social networking in today's fast paced communication society? And I had an android for 6 months before it completely locked up. Got an iPhone and it's been smooth for 2 years.

Since I got out of High school like 9 years ago?

I wasn't aware that having FB or Twitter was required to be on the uppity up?

People who use Facebook, Twitter and all those social networks are try hards.

I mean no disrespect for those who use it but there is a limit. I understand using FB to keep in touch with family and such but other than that, a grand waste of time.

Just send me a good old text or give me a call if you want to contact me. Works great too.

Twitter is cool, IF you follow the right people. I mostly use mine to follow people in racing.

Same here for Twitter.

I dont really follow anyone since I dont have an account but I do keep tabs on Gordon's during the course of the season.

I like the little race minute by minute updates. Its like race chatter but the free, cheap version. You get the same gist, more or less.

Twitter is a great tool. Like many I use it more to follow the sport than anything else. If you follow the right people there is a wealth of information out there. It is also a way that allows you to communicate with those in the sport, whether it's an active participant in or someone that covers the sport. It allows you to contact people directly that would not be available by any other means. I've used it to contact people in the sport to ask questions and the like. Do you think that Larry McReynolds is going to give you his cell number so you can text him a question? Take to Twitter and he will. I use it as a tool and nothing more.

I guess it's just different for me. I'm in college and I use mostly fb as another medium to communicate with friends and family as well as professors and businesses for future internship/job opportunities. Does it beat a good old fashion phone call to pass information on? Of course not. Side note though, during interviews an organization within my major requires us to ask potential members if they are active through social networking before accepting them. It is a vital source of our organization information and communication hub.

I joined FaceBook and Twitter a few years ago and one look at each and I knew it wasn't for me. Hell I'd have to take twit and face 101 to even be able to understand that stuff.

Facebook > Twitter.
iPhone > Android.

Don't buy the ****** $50 Android phones then.

Facebook > Twitter.
iPhone > Android.
No.

It was a $100 after upgrade discount. Transfomer with Gingerbread OS. Was a horrible POS. iPhone 4S with iOS 7 has run smooth for 2 straight years. I"ll take the apple product thank you.

Do you like ios7? You'd be the first that I've come across that does.

Everyone else hates it.

It looked a little cheesy when I first downloaded it but there's nothing to hate about it. I like the sliding task bar and the more fluid look to it. What do people hate about it?

Mainly the flaw in the design and the thin lettering. My mother hates the way the dial numbers look. The white background with the bare looking numbers are hard on the eyes, or so she says.

But I actually agree with her on that. Even for me its hard to see certain things on there.

So turn the brightness down. & it's a white background with black lettering, it doesn't get much more simple than that

And that's your opinion.

Fact is, there are more people that doesn't like it for one reason or another then there is people that like it alot like yourself.

I'd say the latter are just loyalists that are in denial of clear cut dissastisfaction of the masses.

Apple should at least give you the option of a roll back. Instead they are forcing something many people doesn't like down their throats.

That's one reason why people are bailing ship and going Android.

Gotta disagree with you on most everything here. I've been on FB for about 5 years now. Not only have I seen my brother's grand kids grow up (which I really couldn't otherwise do) and met up with friends from my past, but have made new friends along the way. Random comments to random posts have led to actual conversation that in many cases have developed in genuine friendships.

I guess you can talk down to the people like me who use Facebook on a regular basis, but my life is more enjoyable thanks to the many friends that I've made through that online community.

I'm not going to talk down to people who use it, I dont have that right.

If it works for you then great.

I used Facebook when I was yet in High School, still used it after that for maybe another year before I lost complete interest in it.

Facebook is indeed good to get in touch with old acquintances but once you get caught up and re-engage you realize how different things are and the conversation dries up quick because you no longer have anything in common with that person.

I had a friend in Junior High, we were pretty close friends, after many years we got in touch through FB and I dont know what happened but he totally changed. He was more reserved, quiet and plain just awkward to talk to.

We spoke maybe twice and never heard from him again.

Yet you use phrases like People who use Facebook, Twitter and all those social networks are try hards. And you do realize, of course, that this forum is just another one of those social networks, right?

In my experience most are.

I still get people who act all high and mighty when I tell them that I no longer have a Facebook page or Twitter and so on.

If that's not being high maintenance than I dont know what is.

Ummm, ok. Still talking down about people that use "those social networks" while on a social network. Kinda funny right there.

Not talking bad, just telling it like it is.

And did you just compared Twitter and facebook to message boards? Laughable.

How would you know? You own neither.

They are used for the same ideas. Ease of spreading information and making connections with people.
The chances if anybody achieving a high position in a professional environment without Facebook or Twitter knowledge are very low.

It's *all* social networking. You can deny it all day long, but the fact remains.

I actually did, as well as managed a few back in the day.

They are vastly different from the likes of Twitter and Facebook.

The fact that I have to point this out is mind blowing.

No kidding they are used to connect with people and spread infomartion around. That much is a given.

Hey you know what else is used to spread info around? This little thing call the internet.

Doesn't mean they are alike.

You dont even know what you are talking about on the bold part.

Most big companies and even CEOs themselves use proxies when they make a twitter account. What you actually think its them writing every word? They have people that do that for them. If you were to directly ask them if they used Twitter or Facebook they'd say no.

Social Networking has become a part of our sociaty, no doubt but they're not needed for you to step up the ladder. That's just not true.

Get your fact straight dude.

1. Guess what wasn't around "back in the day"? Necessary social media has only been around for give it take 5 years.

2. You're right. College education on the most up to date mass communication's necessities means I haven't a clue on what I'm explaining. Here's a hint, when someone offers simple insight, do not take it as an insult to your intelligence. You look like a douche.

3. Yes, a lot of major companies use agents to communicate on social media, but guess what they are still using to communicate with associates? Social media.

4. You haven't the slightest idea on what it takes to make it to the top in today's world - not your "back in the day" world. Technology has taken over everything related to business in the past 5 years. Catch up slow poke.

If people don't wanna use it for their social life, it's up to them. But it is almost a necessity to create a separate business profile for companies to communicate with you and masses of others at the same time. Facebook resumes are also becoming extremely popular and valuable for up & comers to land a solid job.
