Le Tour de France 2022

I didn't catch any of the stages in Denmark but Jakobsen's stage win is a great feel-good-story. Kinda ironic that Groenewegen won the next day.

Pogacar got ahead of all the other GC contenders yesterday.
The stage finish was crazy. First it looked like Powless was gonna run away with it, then Boasson Hagen sprinted past him but he was exhausted as well.
At the end Simon Clarke beat Taco van der Hoorn in a photo finish.

Stage 5: OMG ! Those cobbles ! American Powless 13 seconds from Yellow. Oh so close.
Those guys cry when they win a stage on the cobbles. I would cry if I finished!

Tadej has the potential to win 10 Tours. Planche des Belles Filles was only a Cat. 1 mountain and only Vingegaard could stay with Pogacar.
Ineos has four riders in the Top 10. Maybe they can make something happen if they focus their effort on Yates/Thomas in week two.

I know he is a bit banged up but Primoz needs to be thinking
about sneaking away in a breakaway soon. I hate that he is
not even hardly in the conversation right now.

I agree on Wout. How these guys can sprint after 100 hard miles
is just astounding . Mountains here we come. Time to seperate
the wheat from the chaff.

Stage 11: Vingegaard finally conquers Pogacar. He turned himself
inside out to do it. So the question is, can he do it again tomorrow in
Stage 12 which will be just as hard. If he can , I say Vingegaard stays
in yellow to Paris. What an amazing story and what a race !

This might have been the first time we have seen some weakness out of Pogacar. He lost over 2 minutes and also lost two teammates due to Covid. Gonna be a whole lot of work to catch back up.

Was impressed with Quintana today, I thought his best days were behind him.

Yes, Quintana was a nice surprise today. I am still scratching my
head on Roglic. He had such a good spring. Plenty of racing to do.
I think Vingegaard realized today , to beat Pogacar he needs to attack
with 5 or 6 k to go and not wait till the final k. I hope these guys have
a good recovery because they will need every ounce of energy to
drag themselves up D'Huez. My guess is Jonas will follow Pogacar all day
in Stage 12.

Stage 12 : Went as suspected , now to keep status quo till the Pyrenees.
It will all be about a full recovery till then for the GC guys. Yay for Froome
getting a 3rd place today. Roglic commented today he is just trying to survive,
that explains that. Kuss is the man being Vengegaard lead out till the final kms.
Kuss is an incredible teamate. With all those free roaming fans screaming at the riders going
up d'Huez , Ill be amazed if there are no covid positive tests for the field. There
had to been 200,00 plus fans on the climb. I did not see many masks,(if none)
on any fans. I am pulling for Jonas V. and the Jumbo Visma team the rest of the way.

Three stages in the Pyrenees and a time trial to go and Pogacar needs to make up over two minutes.
Idk if he can do it. Vingegaard has Roglic, Kuss, Kruiswijk and van Aert all working for him, Tadej only has Rafal Majka.

Stage 14: Thats all Jonas has to do. Keep Tadej's wheel. Fireworks to come.

And oh by the way , if you are thinking about the up coming time trial,
here is a reminder of the times of stage 1's time trial:
Tadej : 15'24"
Jonas: 15'32"

8 second difference.

The final time trial is three times as long as the first one, anything can happen.
No seconds gained by Pogacar yesterday, still looking good for Vingegaard.

Going as planned .
Now we got to get through covid test tonite or in the a.m.
Sprint set up will be amazing on the Champs.
Pulling for Wout on the sprint.

What a 3 weeks ! All hail Jumbo Visma.
Now to suffer through tour withdrawls.

I was hoping Ewan could do something on the last stage but it was not to be. A Tour to forget for Lotto-Soudal, I really missed Thomas de Gendt who used to be in the breakaway 90% of the time in previous years.

I thought Pogacar was unbeatable but Vingegaard proved me wrong. Hopefully this battle will continue for years to come.
No words to describe Wout can Aert, this is a threat to win every day no matter the territory.
