Let's Talk Talladega

I wish ABC/ESPN would run the last 10 laps commercial free! We'll probably miss the restart.

JP should have blocked jimmie when he had the chance....good race though. Mikey deserved a top 10.

and i wanna have a look at the sway bar(s) off the 43 car. I'm guessing a rear mount broke.

the PEPSI paint on Jeffy's car... even the numbers are a different color.. I cannot find him in the pack..
Betsy:rolleyes:

Jeff Gordon to Drive Fan's Design at Talladega

Deborah Chastain of Thomasville, Georgia, will be leading the cheers for the No. 24 DuPont/Pepsi Chevrolet on Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway when Jeff Gordon races in the paint scheme she designed.
Earlier this year, Jeff Gordon, together with Pepsi, handed creative control over to the fans by asking consumers to create their own paint-out design for the car that Gordon will race in the UAW-Ford 500.

Wal-Mart stores across the country featured the Pepsi program, and Chastain's design was chosen from thousands submitted at www.pepsiracing.com

From there, legendary NASCAR artist Sam Bass narrowed down the submissions to five finalists, allowing Jeff Gordon to ultimately choose the winning design.

"You can't imagine how exciting this is for a fan," said Chastain. "I would especially like to thank Pepsi and Jeff Gordon for allowing fans the opportunity to participate in this contest.I really enjoyed picking out the colors, designing the paint scheme and adding my version of Jeff's flames to the car. I never dreamed that I would eventually see Jeff Gordon getting behind the wheel of something I had a hand in designing."

"This was a really fun program, not only for the fans, but for me too," said Gordon. "It was a unique opportunity and one that allowed the fans to get even closer to the racing experience. I want to congratulate Deborah for standing out in the crowd. I will do my best to drive that No. 24 DuPont/Pepsi Chevrolet to Victory Lane at Talladega."

Deborah and a guest will receive VIP passes to the UAW-Ford 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, scoring some one-on-one time with Jeff Gordon before the race.

Casey Mears finishes 6th and it is his 4th straight top 10 finish. There are many Chase drivers that would like to have those finishes. :) Way to go Casey.

as much as I hate Gordon...

... There's the championship. It's a three horse race with all the wrecks. Jimmie and Jeff will go head to head. Childress is giving Bowyer the best equipment, too bad the talent's not there, he won't be a contender long.

It's over for Harvick. 4 races, 3 bad runs. Can't win championships with cars cutting tires, crewmen missing lugnuts two stops in a row and engines blowing up all over the track.

Maybe RCR will be a contender in 2008.

Childress needs to quit being so narrow-minded and thinking there's one contender.

I hardly think that RCR would give the best equipment to Bowyer with Burton and Harvick in his stable. Bowyer is a good driver, aren't they all, and things have gone his way this year.

BTW, I believe that gives Jeff 11 wins with the Restrictor plate...tops of all drivers in points racing.

Harvick and Burton keep blowing motors. Even worse is that Harvick's crew keep missing lugnuts and small stuff in these races. Daytona was the high point, and it's all been downhill from there.

If he's a contender, something happens (tire, engine, wreck) and he finishes 30th.

If he's not, well, he gets lapped 6 times over and finishes 30th.

Can't contend for a championship if you're not leading and winning races. I mean, how many wins do Jimmie and Jeff have this year alone?

11

I knew that.

How many does Harvick have? 1.

There's a serious problem. Not only is he not winning 5 races, he's not a contender. He hasn't been a contender since Spring. He didn't run in the top 10 at Richmond, his best track.

And then there's Watkins Glen. When he is riding a top 10 finish and going for another one, along comes Martin Truex, Jr. and his raggedy front bumper.

It's frustrating, you know, I can almost predict what's going to happen

I can't think of how many times Harvick's been a serious contender and ended up with a cut tire, blown engine, wrecked in the infied or takien out because of bonehead pit moves. Here it goes.

California - was the fastest car on the track and running in 2nd. Cuts a tire under caution.

Bristol - pit crew knocks him from 1st to 4th, then Harvick fades out of top ten because of piss poor handling car.

Martinsville - Car of Tomorrow blows up.

Indy - Tony the reckless idiot

Daytona - Juan Pablo

Watkins Glen - Juan Pablo

Richmond - Crash Ragan.

Any more?

I knew you knew that. I just love reporting it to you. LOL. Just kidding Andy don't get your undies in a wad.

I hate being reminded. Jimmie and Jeff would'nt have half those wins if Harvick wasn't getting screwed every week. And it's not for Harvick's driving, he got 5 wins last year somehow. What the problem is?

You can quote a commercial at my house when Jeff wins.

"I hate Jeff Gordon ... they'll have to invent a new word for this kind of hate." :lol2:

I've been cheering for Juan Pablo anyways, at least he's getting decent finishes.
