Little known and interesting facts

Another Bobby Labonte fact. I was told this one and haven't checked the accuracy but here it is. Bobby was the first driver in the history of Indianapolis Motor Speedway to get a win in two different series. (Winston Cup, IROC)

In 1993, Jack Roush fielded a Chevrolet Lumina for Mark Martin at the Daytona BGN race. They failed to qualify their #60 Thunderbird, but Dale Jarrett sold them his #32 Lumina for the race. So Jack and Mark raced a Winn Dixie Chevy.
Winn Dixie had their own brand of hotdogs with Mark Martin and his Busch car on the package.

After Kurt won the Cup in 04, he went and got his ears fixed.

I bet you all really wanted to know that huh?
actually it was after the 05 season that he had his ears pinned back. driving for Penske.

Not sure if it's ever happened before or since, but Dave Marcis won a race at Richmond in 1982 without having led a single lap under green.

He took the lead for the first time in the race under caution and, before they could go green again, the race was stopped due to rain.
Racing reference makes it look like David Reutimann took the lead of the 2009 coke 600 under yellow, which then ended a few laps layer

he didn't pit when rain was coming, others did while the race was stopped came another shower and race was called. he was credited for leading 4 or 5 laps. Newman wound up 2nd because of his not pitting.

All of the major owners are drivers. Petree, Childress, JD Gibbs, Hendrick, Stewart

I LOL and bought some of those dogs plus 2 cases of Busch beer preparing for a crazy ass weekend at Talladega in 96. You can't go anywhere in Bamba without seeing something related to NASCAR. My old man was a huge Martin fan, so I brought the empty package of dogs back to Cali and he had quite the good laugh when he saw it.

Yep, I remember a buddy of mine telling me to get them Mark Martin hotdogs for a campout. They were 2 packs for a dollar and tasted just like Jesse Jones.

Bill Elliott had his own line of snack foods

I wonder what's in the can. My guess is chili.:lol2: Unfortunately, I can't find pics of the hot dogs and baloney.:lol2:

Whenever someone gives me grief about watching "cars go 'round and 'round in circles" I'm quick to correct them and sarcastically point out that the cars are actually going 'round and 'round in ovals.

However, there was a one mile dirt track in Pennsylvania that NASCAR raced at in the '50's that was pretty close to being a perfect circle.

I think this is still correct to this day. I was going to save this for trivia, but I hardly look at it. So here it is.

Ned Jarrett leads all drivers with wins in a Ford with 50 wins.

Most cars with the same sponsor (excluding auto manufacturers) at the top level of NASCAR: seven by the infamous JD Stacy in 1982.
Drivers were: Joe Ruttman, Jim Sauter, Terry Labonte, Dave Marcis, Ron Bouchard, Benny Parsons, and Jody Ridley.
Stacy owned the teams of the first two drivers listed, and provided significant financial support (and had his name prominantly painted) on the others - until his cheques were MIA or bounced.

Until the field was cut to 40 this year, the point values a winner could receive all had ties to car numbers of the 6+ time series champions. You got 43 points for the win, plus 3 bonus points, and could gain a maximum of 48 points in one race.
