LVMS holds "free" parking lot so "paid" lots can empty first

I'm assuming that there's no track where wood nymps pick you up on a magic carpet and deliver you to your home - including Martinsville?

I can give you advise on plenty of places to park there if you'd like to get out quickly. Don't let the parking keep you from Martinsville. Just don't expect to park next to your seat and then driver right out of there after the race. It doesn't work that way.
It's the distance and not the parking that has kept me from going to Martinsville for awhile. I used to live an hour from the track, now I'm about 7 1/2 hours from it. Would love to go back someday though.

Parking was always an issue in the times I did go, though. Even back in the early 90's when the track only had about 55,000 seats, it was still a huge pain. On the flip side, the last race I went to at Michigan, it was all of 15 minutes between keys in the ignition and car on the highway. They do a good job getting everyone out there.

Another quick note on Richmond. They offer a shuttle service from downtown that gets you in and out of there pretty quick. It is a lot easier to catch the bus downtown and then hit 95 from there. The buses have their own route and they drop you off right at your car.

Dover tip for anyone that cares. Just south of the track is a place called Blue Hen Corporate Center. It costs $20 to park there but they have a shuttle that picks you up at your car and drops you off right outside the gate @ turn #4 next to Miles The Monster. After the race you can jump right on the bus and get on the turnpike that runs just next to the track. The buses are the only ones that have access to this temporary on ramp. It will get you back to your car in 5 minutes and you'll be on your way. It is worth every penny. They also have a service that runs from the north but I am not familiar with its location. Dover Speedway's website would have the details.

Dover's easy. There are so many places to eat right around the track and so much to do. I used to go to the casino after the races and usually came out with some extra money on the slots. :growl:

God bless Daytona for Lot 7......A mile north of the track and no traffic issues getting out.....Not sure about the 500 traffic though ;)

I don't know how that has anything to do with Danville. But if they want to force people to go to Danville, they can close the Expressway. Good luck with that. If they want to force people through Martinsville which appears to be the quickest way anyways, they can close the freeway.

I always went through Danville on the way to and from the track. I guess I'm the only one that ever did that.

My bad.

The best parking for any track I've been to was Dover. It was the Blue Hen Corporate Center parking which cost $20 per car, but it was well worth it.

From that lot you take a 10 minute shuttle bus ride to the track, which drops you off right at the track's front door. After the race the bus picks you up at the same spot for a quick ride back to the lot. You're way ahead of all the race traffic because the lot is farther down 13 than the track parking, and the buses get priority before and after the race. I think they run the buses for an hour after the race.

You can be at your car and on the road home 20 minutes after the race, while the cars in the track parking are still just trying to get out of the lot.
Or you can hang out there and fire up the grille and relax after the race.

It's right off US 13.

But I dream about wood (seeking) nymphos taking me home all the time.

I love the buffet at the casino. Its great! I usually go there during a practice session. You can see the cars practicing through the windows while enjoying lunch :)

Did i hear someone say buffet and racing? They would have to run me out of there when it's closing time.:D

Buffet? ****, I've only gone there to get some money from the slot machines. Wish I knew about this buffet sooner.

yeah, its on the 2nd floor. If you do go, make sure you bring your players card, if you show it to them while paying they will give you $1 or $2 off of the already cheap buffet.

I worked the race in Vegas this year, folks were coming by everyday complaining about the parking lots. Either they couldn't find the one they were supposed to park or it was too far away. I can honestly say that I have yet to go to a NASCAR race where parking is easy, this is why I always show up early & hang out for a while after the checkers...

If you go to a large sporting event and race to your car the second the event ends, then you are part of the problem.

The dumbass cops in Virginia will let the normal traffic light patterns control the flow of traffic at Martinsville Speedway instead of actually guiding traffic themselves. The exit ramp to get on to 58 from 220 can become a nightmare pretty quick since that light stays green for all of 20 seconds and most of the traffic coming from Roanoke comes from 220.

I took the back roads out of M'ville after the cup race and was on my way in less than 15 minutes.

I loved watching people try to exit the ballpark at Southern Maryland. Everyone would sit in the parking lot for at least an hour cussing because of traffic. I'd drive around the stadium and exit out of the service entrance/exit and was home in four minutes.
