I think Mark's issue with Roush is that he was for the guinea pig for Jack's engineering madness that caused the inconsistent performances necessary for a championship. Seems like he screwed with something especially by the end of the year to cause them to come up shy on points. Plus I think that Mark was just not assertive enough to tell Jack to leave the stuff alone, unlike Robbie Riser and the current lineup of crew chiefs. Mark has always felt indebted to Jack for rescuing his career after his first attempt at cup came up a disaster.

Agreed... I remember being soooo mad at Roush in 90 when he, Yates, and several others went to Atlanta to test for the season ender..... Ford really wanted that championship, and they brokered a deal for Roush to get one of Yates new T-birds ( instead of running what had gotten them there) Yates had been plagued with electrical probs all year, and guess what....... Mark had problems with them in the last race, and lost the title.

It was funny though, what Dale did....... He showed up at that test session, said something to the effect of it was him against Detroit, with all those Ford teams pooling together to help Mark beat him. Dale went out on the track, made one good hot lap, loaded up and said he was ready......lol. What a head game to pull on the competition.......lol
